Trek or Giant?

From Trek, I thought an odd response....

"We do offer the Police models to the general public. With that being said, you will need to check with your local Trek retailer because we do not offer online purchasing for Police models. Some shops will only order those bikes if the individual purchasing the bike is indeed a police officer."

"They are allowed to do that because the bikes come with available "police" stickers that technically make it a police vehicle.
If a member of the general public rides a bike with "police" logos, that can be considered a criminal offense of impersonating an officer."

I asked if the POLICE sticker comes unattached... "It comes with the bike, but not installed."

Doing comparisons, I didn't realize Trek did a "Lift" electric. Odd looking compared to the Pure, but enticing... This old gimp likes flat foot and upright.

I am currently looking at three Treks at my LBS: Powerfly 5, Super Commutter7 and a used Powerfly7 FS (for $3500.00), however, has some nicks and scratches. Not sure which one I will pull the trigger on. Glad to hear you have had a good experience with your bikes from Trek.

Bob, According to the Trek Store website they still have the Powerfly 7 (2017) marked down at $2999... Frame size 19"

Good info on the Police Electric! I reached out to Trek chat and rep Ethan indicated the same info, however, if you want to get the bike from a dealer, 'they will leave it up to the dealer's discretion whether they will sell it to the consumer'. Very odd over just a sticker to separate law enforcement from the consumer for purchase.
I did find the same bike for sale (Trek Powerfly Speed) without the 'Police' sticker attached at another website with in house purchase only and no online orders for delivery. Must be some bike with so many restrictions. I just don't get it!?!

Just tell the LBS that "The Police" were you favorite band. Depending on the age of the salesman, the response might be anything from "Huh?" to "ROXANNE!"

Love it! Roxaaaaannnneee! Need to always have a sense of humor with all this stuff. Salesmen need to help us all out when purchasing. They need to always give the paying customer what they request to get the sale in this highly competitive biz IMHO!

Yes everyone would think someone on a bike with a tiny police sticker would be a police officer. Ludicrous.

FYI-I reached out to a Trek LBS and they indicated that the 'Police' Electric can be ordered with a deposit with no obstacles for the exception of 'no police sticker' on the bike. Well that was easy compared to jumping hoops with the online Trek rep.

BTW- I also spotted the same bike on another Trek dealer website with cheaper components than the one at Trekbikes.com. Another buyer beware situation if the bike is put on order or picked up.

Can the Police bike be set-up for a more upright riding position ?

e-boy-It is a possibility by simply changing the handlebar stem to an adjustable for an upright riding position. You have to make sure that the dimensions for the clamps are the correct ones that fit that particular bike.
