TREK Domane+ 2019, thoughts, price, issue?

Hi tegnamo, the reason is just that if one is used to a fast and nimble bike most electric bikes feel like tanks and ride in a very different way. There's also the thing that if you ride for exercise a 50 pound and up bike requires using the electric power. You'll probably get some exercise but a lot of that is ghost peddling. Every time I check my heart rate on the Gain it's a lot higher than on my other ebike. If you have to carry a bike up flights of stairs it's a nightmare with a heavy bike. That said to each his/her own, but I really don't understand why people can't see that some people prefer Cadillac DeVilles and others Miatas. Part of it may be that this forum is geared towards people who like big, heavy bikes?

It's not about "big heavy bikes", it's about 'Too Pooped To Pump To Participate' or in simpler terms, it's like Viagra for your legs.
When people get older and their facilities are in decline, it's a wonderful thing to feel energized, youthful and like they can do something that assists in keeping their health from further decline.
Sitting down on the couch after dinner and pushing buttons on the remote control to go to Jeopardy and Wheel of Fortune is a sure fire way to start the decline.
Whereas pushing the button to go from ECO to TOUR to SPORT to TURBO and doing 10-12 miles after dinner may help keep things in the body functioning just a little bit longer than without.
Still, you don't have to be a 'Cranky Old Fart' to be e-bike eligible, it opens up a whole new world and experience.
Just look around your towns, look at all of the increase of bicycles in the last few years. Was it like that 10, 20 30 or 40 years go? Nope, not here in the US. Maybe in other parts of the world, so now people are realizing the benefits of the assistance if they choose an e-bike over a regular bike.
Each to their own, I like Porsches and I like Volkswagens. Same with bikes. Choose your preferred one, enjoy life. You could be dead tomorrow.

GuruUno, I agree with you 100%. My problem is that I personally am inherently lazy, and on my regular ebike it was so tempting to use the power because it's a large battery compared to the Gain. I noticed that I was relying on it more and more. The Gain forces me to work, with the size of the battery if you go into high mode you'd be lucky to get 15 miles. Since I have health issues the Gain gives me insurance if something goes wrong on a ride, while forcing me to work - so it's kind of like a half-way step between a road bike and a "regular" ebike. No doubt about it, for those with no options an eBike is great, but it's also tempting to use them as crutches.

- It appears that that the Evation is the 2020 verison, which brings the motor into the powepack , which is integrated into the downtube
- The Evation features a removable power-pack allowing a rider to ride without it and thus mecahnical-only & saving wieght
- The drive train is Shimano Ultegra - long arm version replacing Sram 1
- The weight is 13kg vs 17kg Bosch for a 56 frame
- 55NM Torq versus 62 NM on the Bosch 2018

Just before xmas I have the new frame fitted, had to wait a bit longer as trek sent the new 2020 frame instead

Anyway it looks like they have done away with those lugs & now the stand fits close to frame & feels very secure.

HAS IT BEEN PROVEN? IS THE TECHNOLOGY NEW OR OLD? Would we be "early-adopters" and have woes along the way? Would there be recourse if deficiencies are discovered?
