transport style cycling maps

i know these have been made for different regions, but i thought it would be a fun exercise to make one from my own most frequent cycling routes. of course it's not to scale, as these often aren't, with everything reduced to 45 degree increments and heavily abstracted - in the style of the famous harry beck tube map. still hard to get all the information in without distorting the scale even further - this is a work in progress with lots of missing segment lengths and elevation changes.

i couldn't come up with a graphically clear way to separate it into "routes" or "lines" with different colors, since it's not really like a transit network where things only go certain ways at junctions

anyone got any good examples of these, or, better yet, made one?

It took me a second, but now I get it..."Mass Transit" style maps – rather than Transport, as your post is titled. I am not a world traveler, but have been to England and their transit maps are the best! NYC has their version, though I've spent little time there, although I grew up in the Capital District. I have a friend who is a graphic designer who worked on a few alternatives many years ago.
I am also a designer, so, I can see the challenge of your project. Cool. You should share your icon/symbol/color key definitions you are currently using.
I ride in these areas of SF and Marin shown on your map, but not often, though this past Saturday I rode in Marin on my non-eBike. It has been a while for me. I lived in SF for 16 years before moving a little south to RWC.
I am curious...what is your graphics background? Or is this a new endeavor?
