Torque spec for rear wheel hub on Trek Allant

Hi Folks,

I just replaced an inner tube on the rear wheel of my Trek Allant+ 8 bicycle. I reinstalled the rear wheel and hand tightened the rear hub bolt so the wheel is secured to the frame.

I looked on the internet and at the user docs that came with the bike, but I couldn't find a torque spec for the rear wheel.

How tight should I make it?

I've read that for general bikes, a torque of 20 Nm is good. Is this a good value or is it too tight/loose?

Thanks!

Welcome to the Forum. Good choice of bike.
Yes, keep the rear axel snug and recheck.
FYI, I ride both a 7s (9,5K miles) and an 8s (2K miles).
Grand fun riding either.

What attachments and/or mods have you done? I have done many.

Good & tight with a small hand tool. Not enough to hurt your hand, but enough to instill confidence. Check after a few minutes of riding if not confident. Check before every ride. This bolt will loosen over time with regular riding and is most prone to doing so after installing. I'd suspect around 20 Nm isn't too far off.

Hopefully there's a thru axle on the next version.

You can find it here:

Specs for parts and accessories are listed by the part, not bike model.

20 Nm is waaaay off! I've got that bike and it's printed right on the nut "6 Nm max"

My Allant has the torque spec printed directly on the rear nut. 6 N.m max
