tooth spacing?

A bike I am in the process of semi-rebuilding has the horrible 3x7 and plastic cranks,I want to go to a 36 tooth chainring and new BB,with the freewheel I have( seems like it range will be good enough here in the ridges) trouble is the crankset sez for 8 spd not 7 spd any suggestions and what about crank arm length? thanks in advance( my cadence is more torque then speed)

It should be no problem. We use 8 speed chains on 7 speed bikes all the time.

170 crank arms are typical for medium and large full-sized bikes. I just gave away a beautiful two piece crank set with a BB like butter. I am putting a mid-drive on a GRX so that crankset had to go. I really like the Box 4 8-sp 11-42.
