Tools Needed

I pick up my Aventon Level Monday, and was wondering what you folks carry with you in your bag for unexpected emergencies, like flat tires. I will have Tire Levers and spare tube with me but outside of that, are there other tools or emergency equipment you bring with you? I'd like to keep it simple instead hauling around 30 #'s of tools. I am also thinking of unsuspected loose hardware that you may find a long your outing. Thanks for your replies...
The tools you carry can depend on the type of motor you have. With hub drive bikes, like the Aventon, you don't have to worry about chain or derailleur tools, since the hub motor will get you home without either.

Unfortunately, it's more difficult to remove the rear wheel on a hub drive bike, so fixing a flat on the road can be a hassle. Investing in preventative measures like Tannus armor, puncture resistant tires, and heavy duty sealant filled tubes is always a good idea.

Really depends where you ride. I have thousands of miles on my gravel bike with conventional gravel tires setup tubeless (Giants OEM Crosscut tires and then Panaracer Gravelking SKs) with zero flats on some pretty rough roads. I detest how heavy flat resistant tires feel, but modern tubeless setups with latex sealant are pretty hard to flat. You do need to remember to refresh the sealant from time to time. It also helps not to use the cheapest, crappiest valve stems (learned that lesson the hard way).

If you ride the shoulder of busy roads a lot (where glass and random metal detritus accumulates) you may not really have a choice.

Since I ride the back cross country trails/sandy creek bottoms, wild horse/cow paths for 20+ miles per ride, I have to carry an assortment of tools to fix or repair any problems that show up.

I have 8-0z of Flat Out in each tire, (Big fat tires), I also carry one Backcou HD 4" tube, all the tools to fit every nut/bolt/screw on the bike, needle nose, side cutters pliers, Buck multi tool, an assortment of zip ties to fit the back cassette/spokes, (stripped cassolette), a chain breaker/length of chain/Quik links, have installed a chain tensioner for the chain. I am able to cut down for a 3 cassette steps for a single speed as needed, for when I destroy the derailleur.

Electric tire pump with power cord to reach rear wheel, tire pump runs off the bike battery, 4-16oz Co2 cylinders + 4-12oz Co2 cylinders, tire patching kit HD style.
There is also a plastic tarp for sun shade/winter foul weather tent, 3.0L of water/and a safety straw when needed, + 4 Protien Bars, and sugar tabs (Diabetic), water proof matches/flint and rod and fire starter/lite stove, lite weight Frog Togg top/bottom ware for wet/windy conditions.

Wool Beanie, Artic lobster claw gloves, with wool liners, small first aid kit, 20'+ of Para cord for tie downs and bike tow strap, for me or someone else that may need it. Small head lamp with extra batteries.

And not last, is this blasted C ph for emergency help, and GPS,
as I'll have to walk out to the nearest road as 50% of the time a road is miles away.
All of the above fits into a small back pack (25#<) that is ALLWAYS attached to the bike, Or I can change to the New Juggs 4 bike with the same pack. Plus my 60rd pistol for the bad 2 legged varmints.
I hope, I never have to use it all, but I am prepared, I think........LOL

A buddy uses A-squared when stranded in the out of cell phone coverage boonies. He has a bike with a motor that is more powerful than a chain can take. He breaks chains on huge climbs while using the thumb throttle and needs to find a farmhouse to use their phone. Outside of 15 miles from civilization the charge is $150. I give him quick links that he forgets to take.
Has he never heard of ride services? I'd call uber and ask for a truck. Never tried but I'm sure it would work. Short of that Lowes/Home Depot rent a truck for $25 and everyone has one friend who would help in a pinch, Right? $150? To pick up a bike and rider?

I've put over 4,000 km on my e-bike since I got it 16 months ago.
I've had my tool bag with me the whole time.

I've used it once.
I used 3 zip-ties to reattach my broken display mount.

I've got Tannus Armour inserts, Mr. Tuffy tire liners, and 16 oz. of ATV Flat-out in each tire.
