sure, 600w + 100-200w human input will take you up a steep hill… but it might take a motor rated for much higher than that to achieve 600w at a relatively slow hill climbing speed, especially with a hub drive. and with a mid drive, you’ll need the right gearing, which many e-bikes don’t have.

I have some pretty steep Hills and grades here , my Cannondale class 3 with the 250W 85 Nm Bosch Performance Speed handles them pretty well. Obviously physicle condition plays in also . I am 67 in decent shape for my age .

yeah, that’s a fairly powerful motor by my standards, 600 watts at peak (the 250w “rating” isn’t really meaningful) and since it’s a mid drive you can reach peak power while going slowly!

Yes, I agree with that, I had the same experience when I toured in Paris through https://gowithguide.com/France/Paris and cycled there, those small backstreets are fine, but the main roads can feel like a battle. That said, France as a whole has some fantastic cycling routes.

In the county north of the Golden Gate, Marin, there has been conflict between the equestrian class and mountain cyclists for 30 years. Now it is eBikes. The horse riders feel most entitled. Why can't everyone eat cake and ride a horse?

In Nederland is de maximale snelheid 25 km op fietspaden en ieder mooi pad door de bossen. de klasse 3 is bij ons een speed pedelek die 45 km haalt maar ….. niet op fietspaden en niet in de natuur os bospaden.
Zelf vindt ik als je 76 jaar oud bent met 50 jaar fiets ervaring de e-bike met max 25 km op leeftijd mijn persoonlijke keuze Is.

In the Netherlands the maximum speed is 25 km on cycle paths and every nice path through the woods. class 3 is a speed pedelec that reaches 45 km but ….. not on cycle paths and not in nature or forest paths.
I myself think that if you are 76 years old with 50 years of cycling experience the e-bike with max 25 km at age is my personal choice,

Sounds like me, but I have 60+ years and still like my ebikes unfettered.

If you are into getting sued, getting your illegal electric motorcycle impounded, getting maimed, not being able to ride on any street, bike path, or bike lane, okay fine. The pedaling position sucks and it is 85 pounds with a hub-drive. In California, if it is capable of being 'un-locked' to 'off-road' mode, then it is a motorcycle and must be licensed by the DMV and cannot use bike lanes. Kids or those with arrested frontal brain development, those who are attracted to these toys, are getting badly injured. There is a reason they are unlawful.

Dat is waar maar ik kan middels een speed chip voor €210 de snelheid van 40 km per uur halen maar bij een ongeluk ben je niet verzekerd .
was ik jonger en zonder ernstige nek problemen kocht ik een Stromer st3 .

Hmm , no . I have never been able to hit peak , I have seen 400s briefly ( wattage is based on your effort) . It is a push to pull the 250W , maybe pull max tune on turbo , dunno. Even so , more to the point on 250 W fine for steep stuff , but then I am more into the pleasure of the ride and getting excercise than flying effortless.
