In a strange twist of fate, a fire broke out this week at the Rad Power Bikes retail store warehouse in Huntington Beach, California, Electrek reports. The structural blaze came less than two months after the Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) warned customers to "immediately stop" using and dispose of some of the company's e-bike batteries due to fire hazard. In December, Rad filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection, stating it couldn't afford to recall the batteries.

man talk about Karma catching up.

Yeah, my first thought was insurance fraud. But if they are already in bankruptcy, there doesn't seem to be a motivation for it.

Maybe not karma. If the inventory is destroyed, let the creditors deal with the insurance company, that’s a debt off the books. Maybe not what happened …
well their batteries caused others damage so now they feel the burn. batteries revenge. I doubt they will pay for others' damage to Karma has to get its buck somehow.

Many business' have video cameras with cloud storage. It will be interesting to see what investigators come up with. There are trained dogs used in LA that can pick up on a couple parts per billion of accelerants like gasoline.
