In principle I'm against bailouts...
But if you can justify giving them to financial institutions that are often at the rotten core of a shit_show... I'm perfectly OK with giving them to a business that actually produces a product.
An auto manufacturer is a lot harder to replace than a bank.. and with imports, it may be near impossible.

I've read Strauss and Howe's Books "Generations" and "The Forth Turning, and American prophecy" In them they point to fact that our western civilizations pass through 4 distinct cycles, Spring Summer Fall and Winter, every 80 to 100 years. They have tracked these cycles back 400 years and it's always the same. Now we are well into the Winter cycle where finance goes crazy and the major nations go on the warpath. It almost always culminates in a existential fight for survival, a collapse of the monetary order, and a huge reset of society into something different.

I see the signs of this everywhere, and it's just like in the 1930's and 40's which was the last Winter cycle. Same as the Civil war, or the War of independence. All were Winter cycles that ended in all out wars and big social changes afterwards. From Howe's reckoning this winter cycle began with the GFC in 2008 and has just a few more years to play out. If things go the way of past Winter climaxes we'll have a world war lol. Not a pretty thought but there it is. If you disagree you better have a lot more than wishful thinking and Hopium to back up your objections. I could list a hundred reasons we're on target and many are hidden in plain sight. Like the massive BRICS alliance that is totally apposed to the $US allies alliance. Brazil, untold resource wealth, Russia, more so! China, All the manufacturing, and India, over a billion hard workers. Saudi Arabia is a member too now, as is Iran, there is the Lion's share of middle east oil.

This collective of nations are just biding their time, waiting I assume for the US to weaken some more. We all know that Russia could have squashed the ukraine like a bug if it went all in, biding their time... As it stands the BRICS could no doubt take over world finances today but the threat of war is probably staying their hand. That doesn't mean war won't come though. Trump's backers are playing a dangerous game. It's time to back off and share the pie but they won't! Britain didn't either. Spain didn't either.

We do not "all know that". As far as anyone can see, short of using their nukes, Russia has gone "all in" from the very start in February of 2022.

The reasons that Russia is not winning their war has more to do with trying to execute a crappy plan, with crappy troops led by crappy officers, with even crappier logistics. When their coup de main failed near Kiev in the first hours of the war they arguably lost then and there. Everything since then has been an attempt to save face and limit further humiliation.

Right now Ukraine is in the process of utterly destroying Russian logistics. Without the ability to transport water, food, fuel, ammunition, and other supplies to the front line those front lines will eventually wither and die, probably within the next couple of months. If Russia mobilizes more soldiers to send to the front, that makes the logistics problems even worse because you'll just have more starving kids on the front lines being left to die and they will use up what little resources they have even quicker.

Russia's only military way out of it is to come up with a really effective anti-drone system and deploy it at scale very quickly, like within the next four or five weeks. And when I say "system" I mean not just some high-tech gadgetry, but also a very effective doctrine on how to use that gadgetry and trained people who know how it all works and can learn quickly how to make it work even better.

Everyone who knows anything about military force knows that Russia could have squashed the ukraine like a bug if it had wanted too. So it begs the question, why don't they want to? Firstly they would be responsible for the place, managing it like before. and as it stands they have already taken a lot of the best farmland and mineral land and legally made it Russian sovereign territory. It would also cause a lot of international angst if they bombed it into oblivion, and it also probably wouldn't be successful, just look at Afghanistan. In the second world war Russia carved off a big chunk of Finland, 10%, and they still control it to this day. It's a lot easier to take just a slice it seems.

The Western media Russia as the evil empire but they are tame compared to the US with it's military endeavors over the last couple of decades. In Africa, Iraq, Venezuela, and now Iran. Oh all in the name of peace and democracy of course but that doesn't change the basic aggression against sovereign nations. No coincidence they were all oil rich nations too... I'm not complaining, after all, we benefit from those endeavors by getting cheaper oil too so it would be hypocritical to point the finger. I'm just stating the basic facts and it's the basic facts that drive the other nations not aligned with the West. The BRICKS basically. A collegiate of nations that have been raped for hundreds of years by Western colonial exploitation.

When I look at all the damage the ukrainian regime has inflicted on Russia it doesn't amount to much but the consequence is Russia has been able to strangle Western Europe of energy. Yet the Western nations up there still support the ukraine? Shooting themselves in the foot or what. What that little war has really achieved though is put Russia on a war footing and blooded its troops.

First it was standing armies, then ships with cannon, culminating in the mighty Battle Ship which Britain entered WWII with and found them useless. Then planes and tanks, aircraft carriers and submarines. Now it's obviously all autonomous stuff. Maybe robots on the ground to do the mopping up, but grunts are still cheaper and very abundant.

Yes, the "Russia could win this war if they really went all-out" trope has been around since 2022, never made much sense, and hasn't improved over time.

In 2022 it was possible there was a strategy that Russia could have employed that would have permitted rapid victory. But we obviously do not live in that timeline. I am very much doubtful that there is any magic switch Russia could throw and win the war tomorrow. Or even in six months.

If everything is going according to plan, it is hard to explain why the border regions with NATO have been stripped of air defense, and why the important naval bases around Murmansk have also lost their air defense systems. That is open source satellite information that you can see with your own eyes.

If everything is going according to plan, it is hard to explain why Russia is recruiting (often through deceptive or illegal means) foreigners to fight in its army.

If everything is going according to plan, why are there miles-long gas lines in many locations in Russia? And why is Russian tiktok full of video of people fighting each other over fuel?

In fairness, the lines at gas stations in many parts of Russia are no longer there. Because there is no fuel available so there is no point to wait in line.
