Big Cat electric bikes based out of Patchogue NY. They sell a trike called the

KHANSPORTS EDITION ELECTRIC TRIKE XXL 750W (FAT TIRE) LIMITED EDITION

Screen Shot 2021-07-16 at 8.57.27 PM.png

It sells for $2695. We have never bashed a brand but i feel it is necessary to inform the community to not purchase this electric trike, as it is very unsafe being so unstable to ride. Over the 6+ years we have been in business with over 30+ active brands that we carry this was by far the worst bike we have ever had in the store. Several of our experienced riders have had the same experience of the bike tipping over and leaning on 2 wheels at just 2mph without even turning.

We greatly fear someone taking this thing down a hill and completely eating the dirt or seriously hurting themselves. If you do purchase the bike from Big Cat, they will not accept a refund for this product if you buy it, even thou their website states they accept returns with a restock fee.

Video recorded on Vimeo showing how dangerous this electric trike is.

There are many other trikes to choose from. This is not one of them.

Thanks Lenny. Looks like a lot of weight for that head tube.
I do not believe this bike was ever tested by Big Cat. If it was tested, there is no way in good conscience that someone could sell that death trap. A complaint was filed with the Fair Trade Act on our behalf to hopefully get this trike removed from the marketplace. I find it to be very important that bikes, especially electric bikes are tested before people pay their hard earned money for them.

That's pretty amazing. You have to assume people have bought them sight unseen because you couldn't even take a test ride without a spill. Good on you for the warning.

Wouldn't all bikes of this style be tipsy with so much weight up high? I would think if it doesn't lean, a recumbent style e-bike would be the way to go. Keep the rider and the battery close to the ground, and voila.

to bad cause it looks cool.
the way the steering is engineered is wack

When I was a kid (more than 50 years ago) you saw very similar trikes (some of them with gas engines) with a 3 by 3 by 3 foot insulated box on the front, selling ice cream which they kept cold with dry ice. I can still remember getting my tongue frozen to a fudge cicle!

I've also seen dozens of variations of this same concept in half a dozen countries overseas, primarily in Asia, but a few in Europe too. I think anybody can tip over any three wheeled vehicle . . . . or, if they're careful and understand it's limitations, they could ride one for many years without issues

Hyundai and some other manufacturers made three wheeled dump trucks (single wheel in the front though) some of them capable of carrying several tons, in Korea and when I was there it wasn't all that unusual to see one sitting on it's side with it's contents spilled all over the road. No three wheeled vehicle is as stable as something with 4 wheels . . . . but for some people (my wife included) three wheels are much more stable and less likely to spill you than two wheels . . . .

This trike may have more going on than just 3 wheels vs four. If I was a trike buyer I would appreciate the "heads up."

Yeah 50 years ago Dickie Dee ice cream was were I lived too. The office was like a 1/4 mile away from were I live.
One day at our neighborhood park when the vendor got off the trike one of my buddy's jumped on and road it away as fast as he could around back behind the school building. We were waiting there. Took some ice cream, abandoned the trike and ran away.
No motor, but the ice cream trike wasn't tippy like the KHANSPORTS ELECTRIC TRIKE.

@Lenny, thank you for posting this, very important to share.

If you put the brand name and model in the thread title, it may come up more readily in Google search results.

I am an arborist and think of risk management as a part of my job, so shares like the original post become essential at times.

After that, shares like PedalUma did in post number 9 above are what makes this forum and it's members invaluable.

Sorry to ask, but was it assembled correctly? Those ice cream trucksters seem to turn OK.

In the videos from China, they are moving it around with 100 pounds of cargo on the front wheels.

Last Winter a guy in Canada made a one-off Ice Bike. But, riding solo is not much fun. We could do the same thing with these E-trikes and race them on Great Patchogue Lake this Winter on Long Island.

Randalls do you mind sharing price on that trike? Or what full retail is supposed to be?

Nice looking machine.
