Morning,

New to the site, thanks for the add.

I am 61 about 220lbs at 6’1”. Have had a variety of toys including motorcycles, snowmobiles, atv’s et al. I have my eye on the Rize RX Pro. I like the motor size, mid drive, fenders, rack and lights, readout, suspension, torque sensor and tire size/puntcure resistant. I can see myself using the ebike to commute to work over mostly paved multi use path and a single dirt path. I can also see myself using the ebike to get out and use the ebike to exercise the dog and play on weekends.

Living in Whitehorse Yukon, there are lots of opportunities to get out and experience nature with a reliable and safe ebike. Please feel free to let me know about other brands (Biktrix, ET. Cycle, Aventon, Himiway are a few I have read about).

Welcome. I wrote a review on the Aventon Level II for 2023 which could be helpful. When I went to Whitehorse I was disoriented, and kind of felt weird in my gut, possibly due to its proximity to magnetic North and how the lines of force bend there. No wonder people put up signs pointing to home. My first night in NZ I was asked to point North. I pointed directly South.

When I was there it was dusk at midnight with mosquitos. That added to the disorientation. What is the direction of magnetic North in your town?

I spent a couple of nights in Whitehorse in June 2008. Drove up via the Alcan from Illinois, on our way down to Skagway. High point of the trip was getting to the Yukon. I really liked the long nights. First day I was fooling around with the car outside the hotel around midnight when I realized I was making too much noise. We saw the riverboat, and a lot of sights outside town. Did not get a chance to rent clubs and go shoot some golf after dinner though,

Maybe you know the guide at the brewery?

Welcome. I'm sure that you'll find the forums of great help and full of resourceful suggestions including those from @PedalUma.

A family member of mine recently retired to Kelowna after a rather successful real estate career in Whitehorse. She does miss the laid-back lifestyle and solid friendships that she left behind. I loved the place myself and hope to make a return trip in the near future. I won't forget the char that we pulled in at Atlin Lake that year.

Best of luck in your search for the ideal Klondiker e-bike.

Thanks for the responses and kind words about the Yukon. In the last 2 weeks I have looked and read about many ebikes. There is a dark horse in Whitehorse! The ET Cycle or Leons Cycle T1000 using a Das Kit and German engineering has caught my eye. It's like my Dad's Buick! Amego Canada has them on sale for $1749.00 CAD. (https://www.amegoev.com/et-cycle-t1000.html)

Aloha back...I know some folks in Kodiak due to my association with biomass systems! I am a Cdn veteran with service in the early 1980's.

Alaska is pretty and the folks there are like family. We are only 3 hrs drive from Whitehorse to Skagway AK. It's hard to believe but we have driven that route and encounter more wildlife than vehicles. Unfortunately, our salmon stocks are poor in the Yukon and their King Crab stocks are equally poor.

You’re not being smug, I appreciate the candor. I have a long history of motorcycles, atv’s, snowmobiles and boats. Fizzes RX Pro has caught my eye, just pouring specs and comparing.

There really is a connection between AK and HI among families. Watch out for spec sheets. Quality is more important than quantity. And quality does not translate very well to a spec sheet. The next thing is service. Internet only bikes don't have it. Then there is the proprietary factor. Are you stuck using parts from one supplier who holds a monopoly and charges accordingly? Do you have the Right to Repair? On the 30th of Nov. one brand sent a signal to all Canadian users neutering their $7,000 bikes with an 'update.'

With Yukon having 14 indigenous peoples, many who have signed land agreements, developed their own school boards and having ensured their traditional lifestyle I am a proud Yukoner Who is humbled to live here. The migratory path from AK and Yukon has been travelled by humans and cariboo alike. The Tlingit peoples have travelled back and forth from State to our Territory For hundreds of years. Yukoners and Alaskans have an affinity for each other. We respect our environments and are developing green energy and cling to the Seveth Generstion Principle.

I appreciate your advise. I am am doing my due diligence regarding components, performance and personal fit. As the Yukon is a mountainous region and numerous multi-purpose trails, I need a ebike that has those considerations. I will end up buying in Canada, stipulate prior to purchase the importance of packing and shipping safeguards. As the Yukon is as far northwest in Canada as one can go, getting the ebike safe and sound is a huge consideration. I have had preliminary discussions with Biktrix, ET. Cycle, Himiway about shipping and delivery costs.

Having a long history of shipping things “up the highway”, the journey is always the goal!

I sort of did that trip in reverse in 2012, when my brother was moving back to the lower 48. We started with a ferry ride from Juneau to Skagway. The next day we drove to Whitehorse and toured the riverboat. I don’t remember what else we did, but I do recall we wasted most of the day there, so we must have enjoyed it. 😊 Our ultimate destination was Washington State. As we headed south through BC, there were so many wildfires that we could barely see to drive at times. Still worth it though.

My brother lived there for 20 years, then later for several more, so I’ve had many opportunities to visit Juneau. We didn’t get out on the water, but hiked a bit and fished some streams for trout. Not as exciting as a big halibut or salmon, but definitely a good time. Mostly we partied when I visited. 🙂

I drove up from Northern California to Prince Rupert then took the AK Hwy. ferry to Juneau for a few days of fishing then to Skagway and out to Whitehorse. I met a woman in Juneau and took her to dinner along with my salmon. It made a good presentation and I let the Chef keep half. I saw lots of wildlife. The hunting Orcas were the best.

We had a place settled by Germans 200 years ago at the Sonoma/Mendocino boarder on the coast called Valhalla. Los Californios Mexicans could not pronounce it so it got changed to Gualala. It is just North of the furthest South part of the Russian Empire called Fort Ross that is because the Anglos couldn't pronounce Russ. Our dandelions are yellow, the tree buds are getting fuzzy and plump, and the salmon are running. I am just back from my second ride of the day between rain showers. The tide is huge today.
