I am unable to turn on my TCD unit - it comes on when charging - but not for rides. Any suggestions? I have done some muddy rides over winter - and dry it out after each time.

Have you contacted the people at Specialized yet, those who designed and built the bike? That would be my first port of call if I'd bought a brand name e-bicycle.

A google AI spiel:
To troubleshoot your Specialized Turbo Tero 5.0 e-bike display (or any e-bike getting a communication or power error), always start with a hard reset and inspect your battery connections. Over 70% of display malfunctions are caused by loose wires, a drained battery, or software glitches

1. The Battery Reset

  • Check the basics: Ensure the main battery is fully seated, locked in, and turned on. Some batteries feature an automatic "deep sleep" mode if they sit idle; press and hold the battery’s built-in state-of-charge button for 10-15 seconds to wake it up.

  • Hard reset: Turn off the e-bike. Remove the battery from the frame. Wait 5 to 10 minutes to drain any residual charge in the system. Re-insert the battery securely and power the display back on.
2. Check Cables and Connectors

  • The constant vibration from riding can loosen multi-pin connectors. Follow the thick wire running from the back of your display down into the frame/fork
