Specialized Turbo Vado/Como/Tero/Tero X User Club

Yeah....inventory is stupid low right now. I don't understand why they did the big rebate thing in March/April that decimated their inventory when they weren't going to replenish for many months. Seems odd. Seems like they gave up $1000 in profit on countless units for no reason. Granted they didn't know the full impact of COVID (and what it would do to increase bike sales in general) but even that notwithstanding, I can't figure out the timing and magnitude of the rebate if new bikes weren't going to be out for nearly a year (other than the SL which is a very different bike/different market.
Rebate was not offered in Canada🙁

I've noticed there's a general shortage of attractive e-bikes right now. There's something really rotten. The industry offers the new year's collection in Autumn of the old year. Meaning, you are well off if you have bought your new e-bike in January next year, when hardly anyone rides bikes. That is so stupid it is hard to believe it's true. Add to this the increased demand for bikes because of the pandemics... I really wanted to buy a Specialized Turbo Levo Comp just several weeks ago; they don't come cheap anyway. None available for Poland! In May!

certainly don’t understand that marketing strategy! Terribly frustrating.

I don't know if you're close to a Trek dealer, but the Verve +3 would be worth a look - very similar drivetrain components to the vado/como3 but it has a 500wh battery. If you're limited to 20 mph, I'm not sure there's a reason to pay that much more for the vado/como4.
Thx. LBS doesn’t allow test rides for Trek. No stock coming till August on the Verve +3.
Have to look farther and wider for another dealer. Not easy this bike shopping!

I looked at the Ohm e-bikes. The Quest with Shimano E7100 and the 504 Wh battery looks nice. Strange the Quest Deluxe is not on offer? Could you make a test ride, May?

It would be interesting to see a sales graph of eBikes in the US over the past few years to see how sales have evolved. My guess is a gradual/moderate-but-still-impressive uphill curve until March of this year and then a spike under COVID.

...and an extra bump during the 30 days of the Specialized Vado/Como rebate!

Yes there are Comos, 3&4. Vado 3 and some step thru. But not Vado 4. Low production perhaps?
after many rides I agree.....a sweet bike either way.
I tested a Vado 4.0 size L at a LBS in November when deciding on what to get. The 4.0, in addition to the battery, has lower gearing with its 42-tooth largest read cog, which was important to me for getting up hills without too much reliance on the motor.

BTW, the bike was in that pretty dark red color but I decided to order mine in the carbon. When I took mine to the shop yesterday for a minor repair, that same bike was still sitting there!

Friends,
I've managed to convince my brother to at least temporarily ride my Lovelec touring e-bike (which is in mint condition). Since I own spare batteries for both Lovelec and Vado, we're going for a metric century this weekend (if the weather allows us doing that). The only reason that was baffling Jacek from riding e-bike was the speed restriction but the Lovelec is unrestricted ;) It might be an interesting ride, especially as the plan is to ride in the picturesque valley of River Narew.

Jacek is a very strong rider and the hub-drive motor should be fantastic for him, enabling him to ride long distance without getting tired. I am curious if I can manage the trip. I made two metric centuries on the Lovelec but none on the Vado yet...

Another proof point that not everyone wants Crimson! ;)
I am enjoying the fun color-shaming banter on here, I do want to make it clear that although I prefer the Dove Gray, the Crimson is a very sharp looking bike...as is the Carbon. No bad choices here. Unless of course you didn’t get Dove Gray. 🤩

Sounds like Jacek is a powerful rider. Put him on an unrestricted ebike and he’s gone out of sight. 😎🚴🏾‍♂️
Will you be able to keep up, even on the Vado?
Have a fun metric century.

Jacek believes he could make the 100 km ride on a single battery, especially as he describes the Lovelec as "a normal, though heavy bike". He even doesn't want to take a pannier with the spare battery :D I said to him: "Yes you can make it on a single battery if I restrict the e-bike to 20 mph" -- to which he temporarily agreed :) I expect I would follow him in the 50/75-100% Sport mode (so the spare battery will be a must!) He also says were it him to make 100 km on his traditional MTB, he should reduce his own speed to some 15.5 mph. No need with the e-bike!
