After fooling around trying to get the Giant update to work so my Ride Control would function, a friend sent this link to previous Android versions of Ride Control from APKPURE:

First, deleted the current version (1.4.4) that's demanding to update the bike, but can't complete it.

Second, turned off auto update in the play store

Third, downloaded version 1.4.2 of the app - that's two versions back. Was asked for permission to install, since this version is coming from apkpure, not the Google play store - I said yes.

Also downloaded apk installer

Was asked if I want to update to the latest version, said no!

Installed the app.

Fired it up and paired with my bike, and - VOILA! Good to go! Logged in as usual.

After installing this version, I can again see my battery and power settings, and can use Ride Control again on my rides.

I'm still going to take my bike to the shop to have the new update done eventually, but since it's an hour away, won't be in a big hurry now that the app is functional again ;).
