Solid fork mounts on allant8s

I’ve wondered from time to time if there are front racks that would attach to my Allant but haven’t found anything that would work with my Mobie25 fork.
Deep google search might take some time but there must be atleast a couple that would work with the mobie25 fork.

BTW, this one seems a bit “cleaner” and cheaper but has what looks like the right attachment points.

That looks like a nice sturdy rack with multiple attachment points (5 total). It does, however, show an attachment point at the fork crown, which means it would not work *as designed* with the Allant 8s.

Here's a better perspective where you can see the fork crown attachment point:

But since it has 4 additional attachment points (2x axle braze-ons + 2x mid-fork braze-ons), you *might* be able to improvise the 5th attachment point or go without (but I am not necessarily endorsing or recommending this).

My allant does have the drilled out hole on the fork crown exactly for that purpose.

I found this article by cycling about (€6k koga YouTube guy). He mentions the “faiv Hoogar” and the “old man mountain” two different front suspension racks. One better than the other according to him but both very expensive.

Ah...OK. Thanks for clarifying. I simply misunderstood your earlier post (I re-read and I think I understand it now):
There’s a hole in the middle above the front fork, mounts on each fork but none on the top of the fender.

What might be a problem is the axle brazons. I’m not sure if I have there on my allant. Definetly have brazons in the middle of the fork and drilled out hole in crown. I’ll check in the morning for the axle brazons. I hope it has them. I assume it will be ok even without the axle brazons but there will probably be rattling which would be a no-go for me.

Looks like it does have the axle braze-ons according to the Trek USA website product photos for the Allant 8:

But those are off to the side instead of above the axle. The photo you posted of the front rack of the trek 920 has the axle brazons directly above the axles. Does it make a difference?

They are in front too. The photo posted by Dallant shows it better:

But also note that that bike has two mid-fork braze-ons on the fork blade. You might need to measure the Allant fork braze-on and confirm with the rack specs.

I have to wait until tomorrow to call the store. National holiday here and all is closed unfortunately. It’s a trek store and they have allant 8s and 9s in stock so they will know if the measurements would be compatible with the brazons or not.

If your fork is the same as on my Allant+8, then you can fit a tubus tara lowrider:View attachment 69863

I've used one of these on my normal tour bike for years and they are brilliant.
That’s nice for sure but I’m looking for one that comes with the pizza rack flat top too. If all else fails I’ll probably get the one you are using but I’m hoping the trek920 front rack would be compatible.

I think I am going to buy the same one as you old fart.

After some back and forth and waiting from Trek Athens it turns out my first choice ; the stock rack from the trek 920 is not compatible with my allant8s but the stock rack from the 520 is. I’m not a fan with its looks plus there is a wait until end of December at the earliest.

Do you have any links for your low rider ? I’m pretty sure the forks of our bikes are the exact same. If It’s not hopefully someone can chime in and confirm for me.

@ old fart
Is this the same exact one you have? Sold in one size and fits wheels 26’ and 28’, we have 27.5 on our trek allant8s.

Hiya...
Almost exactly the same! the lower mount point in your illustration is bigger and has 3 holes in it. Mine has 2 holes, this is the one I have:

I see that on this site, again listing the rack I have got, it says 26" 28" wheels, so I guess it must mean between 26 and 28":

Incidentally on this second site there is a review where a guy says his Ortlieb panniers dont fit - no idea what he is talking about, my Ortliebs fit perfectly and in fact work better on this rack than on my old steel tourer!

In my set up, I use the rear of the 2 holes for the lower mount. So in the rack in your picture, that would be the side with one hole, not two. My guess is that this one hole is in the same position on both racks.

Also I see that the manufacturers part number for the one you poosted is 205001-001, whereas mine is T205001-001. Might be worth googling that.

Hope this helps, I love this rack.

Cheers, John

Ok good thing I waited for your response and didn’t place the order overnight. Our bikes have the same exact fork and eyelets so it’s definitely your model rack that is compatible. Will start searching again for it, thanks 🙏

I understand your caution, but I would be very surprised if that single hole in the lower mount was in a different position in the two versions.

I’m going to email them first and see what they say. Hopefully I get a response and there isn’t a language barrier problem.
