So just how far apart ARE the cranks?

I see it mentioned all the time. I've even read of guys that sold the bike/kit because it was uncomfortable for them to peddle because the cranks were so far apart.
And apparently the right crank is offest more than the left?

So what's the scoop here?
Someone has to have measured.
From the closet edge of pedal to other pedal, what is the distance?
How much further out is the right pedal than the left relative to the center line of the frame?

Hi MLB,

here are some measurements at last:

the inner distance of the (generic) crank to crank is 16+ cm (cranks were just loosely fitted on the axle).

As the BaFang has quite an offset to the right when mounted on my 73mm BB I partially adjusted this with another left crank that reaches a bit more outward so I actually end up with about 18cm from inside to inside (and still got some offset).

Thanks so much! I guess others thought I was here to bash. I've got a Giant fs mtb that's waiting on their next gen that hopefully fits larger bb shells.
 
What's the Problem?

A Giant FS MTB has a BB no larger than 73mm I suppose, it's not a fatikbe is it?

So what are you waiting for?

Most current, decent mtb have a BB larger than 73mm, it's 90mm.
They're all the oversized, very heavy duty frames now (on $1500+ bikes)

I dont' want the extra width beyond the 90. 5mm extra on each side.
The rumored next gen is supposed to offer a "factory built" 90-100mm bb model with improved controller and shift break, etc
I've already got 1 very good E bike (stromer st1) and a wonderful E trike (catrike expedition with Falco setup in rear wheel. I can wait for the next step up in motor for what might be my ultimate E bike. :)

Bosch isn't the strongest motor out there. A few burned up units and unhappy customers as warranty doesn't cover "abuse" of overheating apparently. Off road certainly puts a heavier load on the whole setup.
Also the fork on the low end Haibikes is the same Rockshox r32 as on my $1600 Giant bike. And it's the lowest of 4 spec levels from Giant for the Trance. 2103 model.
All of the suspension E bikes use awfully mediocre suspension components for 4-5k bikes.
I bought the Trance used for $800 (like new), if I spend $1200 on the E assist I've got a totally comparable bike for 1/2 the price.

That helps a ton! I measured 2 other bikes and my trike and all are around 14-15cm. 18 doesn't "look" like it would be a big deal at all. (to me).... but I've been wrong before. LOL

You were right! Got a screaming deal on a 15 Xduro RS FS 27.5 and it's nigh on amazing. Love it! Selling the Giant. LOL

interesting like kinda nice or in any specific way like having the BaFang Max Drive System and being darn cheap?
 
All of the above. Aluminum, torque sensing bafang max drive, Decent looking tires, drilled rims. Just over 50 lbs with battery and motor. The shipping probably kills it.
