Single Speed Ebike

Do you know if I have to change the settings on my controller? I haven't checked yet, but I found out that my motor has 16 magnets and 1:6.28 gear ratio. Do I have to check the p1 setting and change it to 256 ( 16x16), if it isn't correct?

I think you made the right choice to go with a front hub drive because they are easy to integrate to an existing bike. I like the direct drive hub motors because I just don't have high confidence in the reliability of nylon gears inside of a hot motor housing. I understand the benefits of higher torque from a lower power hub motor but if you spend a large percentage of your riding time over say 15 to 20mph a direct drive hub motor tends to out perform both geared hub motors and mid-drives.

I agree, the gears reliability is the only thing I'm afraid of. Maybe in the future I can change them with metal ones? Or I can find a DD motor and just swap it, if that is possible in any way.

A couple upgrades...
New dual pivot calipers
New brake levers
New handlebar ( I ordered a golden one to match the calipers, but it came in silver  )
I took it for a quick ride and i noticed a huge braking improvement!

Question...
Is there a way to trick the motor in order to get a higher top speed?
Micah from ebikeschool just uploaded a new video and one of the tips for higher speed, was to change the wheel settings on your display. I run on 28" wheels, if i change it to 26" will that do anything? The speed on the display will be wrong obviously, but what about the real speed?
I just took a quick spin and tried a couple of settings ( 24inch, 22, 700c), but didn't notice any difference. My 36v battery is at 37v right now ( so not fully charged), i don't know if that is a big deal. On second thought, it shouldn't be an issue, because this is a comparison between 2-3 settings, right?
