I have not used the gel pads one. I have used them on about five bikes including my daily town bike. One was for the woman who is riding 6-hours per day, living in her tent, riding from Seattle to Maine. Supportive comfort is essential in her case. It has ventilation in the middle and there is no contact there. The ischial sit bones are supported but it also flexes quite a bit there. For fun look up ischial callosites, images.
