Show us a recent sunset during your ride!

This one was taken last year at a trailhead on the New River Trail in VA. It's a sun pillar that tried to form but never quite made it.

Old thread worth keeping alive. We've had some doozies lately.

From a trip to Carpinteria Beach earlier in November. After 3 years in SoCal, starting to see November as a good month for sunsets.

Addendum: Oops, didn't read the title carefully enough. These were NOT taken during rides, but I've ridden in or near both places, if that counts.

That probably sounded a bit too depressing. It's not like this every day, thankfully. Just happened to be waiting for my son's bus and for some reason took that miserable snap with my phone. When the sun shines I do love the sharp and clear winter light. It's just where we live on the northern edge of Dartmoor, which is basically a colossal lump of granite, the prevailing wind drives the clouds from the Atlantic over the moor and then they drop their loads on us so we get a lot of rain. Some days when I drive to the south coast about 25 miles away and on the other side of the moor, I'm astonished at the sunshine. This is the 'English Riveria' popular with retirees and in towns like Torquay and Plymouth they get a hell of a lot more sunshine than we do.

From yesterday's dog walk on a stretch of Coast Highway I ride all the time:

With the moon full and Earth near perihelion, the tide was one of the lowest of the year.

Looking south toward the La Jolla peninsula, then north toward Terramar head and Saddleback Ridge beyond.

The beautiful weather (low 60s) and huge expanse of damp low-tide sand brought out some sunset beach riders.

I'll be down there on my beach bike tomorrow afternoon.
