My goodness...who is LaReau and why should I care? Obviously she seems to think her opinion is the only valid one. So let’s get this straight...we’ll ignore all the other issues because if only the driver would LEARN how to set mirrors, yada, yada, yada. First of all, look at how far the driver has to sweep the gaze to see the mirror; most have to turn their heads and give up situational awareness for left of center and all of left. In the driver’s seat you only need to glance at the screen. In addition, the passengers on the right side never get in the way of the mirror right?? Wrong. Image the confluence of somebody bending forward to get something and block the field of view as an idiot tries to pass on the right..anybody ever have that happen...? Never?? Yeah right! In addition the passenger can be an aid without having to twist around. Now on a road trip after adjusting the mirrors to LaReau’s satisfaction, one would never dream of not staying in the exact position or keep the seat in the exact position used. So things change even a little and has to fidget with the mirror controls while driving. But the camera doesn’t ...it’s got it beady little eye locked on and tracking.
Again, who is this LaReau who just insulted people who want to have all the tech available to them? And, why should I care? As for me, I miss not having the IR screen at night or in reduced visibility so I can see the warm bodies wearing dark clothes who carelessly cross without looking...or the deer on the highway...with that safety item I wouldn’t have nailed 5 deer in 4 yrs on the Montana highways. All total about $20,000 in repairs...glad I carried $50/deductible. Where did the equipment go? Thank the insurance companies who didn’t want to pay for another piece of safety equipment. Then there are the Ford instant clear heated windows...once again the insurance companies defeated a very good idea.
