Safety Labels

Did you take all of the safety labels and informational stickers from your bike when you bought it? It reminds me of a step ladder or something equally as dangerous.

Most of the labels that came on my bike were designed to be removed. Otherwise, they would interfere with function. They mostly referred to pages in the owners manual to be reviewed before riding. I did leave the "Class 2" sticker on the down tube in case of an official inquiry. I also left the warning stickers on the battery & charger. I removed all the others.

I had two large labels on the top tube of my bike. As far as I can see, they are only there for the first time user and to protect the manufacturer against lawsuits. They look like crap and detract from the bikes esthetic lines, so I went ahead and removed them. Once I got into the removing process though, it was obvious they wern't designed to be removed. They had the type of adheasive compound you would affix a sticker with you never wanted to come off. They were also "weather proof". With much patience, a razor blade, some solvent and a deft hand I was able to remove them without damaging the paint. I should have tried a hair dryer to heat them up. I'm sure that would have made the whole process much easier. It's a bit of a risky process without the heat.

Heat is your best friend when removing stickers. Solvent is for any glue residue left over.
