S830 pedal assist question.

I'm trying to dial in my setup, which uses the S830 display. One thing I can't figure out is if there is a way to turn off pedal assist, yet still have the throttle working. I know I can do it in the settings, but would like to do it on the fly, so to speak. I noticed I can move the assist setting down to 0, but then my throttle is disabled, which I think is weird. Perhaps this isn't possible?

Not sure about with your controller but there may be a power assist sensor setting you can turn it down to the lowest strength in the P or C settings and then when you have the assist level set to 1 on the display there is almost no noticeable pedal assist with full throttle function.
Otherwise you could just disconnect the PAS connector which would take less time actually.

Yeah, I can turn it down to one, and it's not bad. I like to use pedal assist, but just thought if I have it set to 0, then it should give no assist, but still let me use the throttle. Not really a big deal to be honest.

It's typical (and safest) to disable throttle in PAS 0, but I believe the S830 allows the throttle to be always enabled in its settings menu. Why not do that?

Yeah for a while I didn't even have PAS hooked up, but now that I do, I very rarely use the throttle. Maybe on start ups to cross busy streets, up hills or to test top, speed throttle only. I don't know why the throttle dosn't work at 0 settings it actually confused me at first as I thought I have a bad connection to the motor or something. I mean if you want to turn off the throttle you can just turn off the display or the battery...why do we need a third way to turn off the throttle?

I agree! I can live with it, but one thing that does get me is the throttle is very sensitive. Almost like it goes from 0% to 75%, and then to 100%. Seems that is an issue on most of these though.

I have the thumb throttle which take a little getting used to the short throw...holding a set speed can be tedius for the thumb.
