Rome Banned?

And that's how a person like me is given a bad name. Lemming exactly did it: denigrated me.
Can you fancy a person who collects screenshots to put someone else down?
It's sick.

Now, everybody "knows" Stefan had his dark period. Now, everybody "knows" Stefan is a drunkard. I even do not intend to prove I am not a camel. It only feeds forum trolls.

His observation about your high edit rate is easy to fact check - look back over the last 3 pages of your posts : 60 posts, 7 were edited later.

I doubt it's alcohol related, but at such a high edit rate you might want to make it clearer what you are changing?

eg " edit, you can't re write the past"

Sick like exceeding the websites ignore member limit?
Or sick like trolling and replying to people you repeatedly state that you are ignoring?
It seems with Mr. Rome there is a particular obsession.

Rome definitely liked to stir the pot, but I often saw him post encouragement to new members and he seemed generally good natured - when he wasn't in too much of an altered state.

I don't give a sh*t if someone edits their post UNLESS it's part of a debate/argument and changes the context of others' posts.

How fast you people forget.

You won't find the quoted post of Rome because he acted on the hit & run principle. He produced thousands of offensive posts and deleted most of them if not all.

Stefan complaining about another poster regardless of the others miss steps is really quite hysterical. DON'T BE A STEFAN is rule one in this forum. Narcissistic putz extraordinaire.

The Empire Strikes Back (sequel).
Good to see you in good health though.
There was a time I was worried abour Rome:
See if you can find any replies from him.
All gone.

My only problem with Rome was it seems lije his picture were from a cell phone made 20 years ago.

ROME was more ‘off’ than troll. His nonsense though, as pointed out, could be bad news to someone seeking information. I blocked him reluctantly…

Are you aware English is not my first language? First of all, I'm editing my posts to correct my English sentences. I still have issues with using the articles, especially "a/an" and "the".
Secondly, I often expand the contents of my posts with new sentences. Like, I had not noticed another post I would like to refer to.
I do not change the opinion expressed in the post, I only perfect it.

There are very rare situations in which I had misread the intention of my correspondent: Then of course I need to rewrite my post. As I said, it happens very rarely.

The most important: I do not delete my posts to hide any misdeed I might have done.

And now, I would need to delete the last quotation mark, which would have resulted in yet another edit. Do you understand it now, @PDoz?

As per my original post, you could just write " edit...." then whatever you wish to change .

It might sound pedantic, but if something is significant enough to be worth changing, I feel a bit annoyed to later find I have " liked" or even responded without quoting you.

Yes, I AM aware you sometimes miss the subtlety / misinterpret intent due to both language AND cultural differences.

Just like American is not my native language / culture, and it'd be reasonable to assume someone calling themself " Rome" might have had a different temperament / interpretation to a Pole.

Briefly flirted with the idea of ignoring Rome due to some political posts years ago, but ultimately found him way too amusing-- and occasionally quite helpful. And yes, he was encouraging to new members, I am sorry to see him go.

Stefan annoys the hell out of me sometimes, particularly when he attacks other members or seems to believe that factory-manufactured ebikes are always safer than custom built ones. (My own belief is that while this is usually true, not always-- not even close.) It is sort of a philosophical thing; I think large corporations are generally, though not always, making our lives more dangerous, not less, and the distractions of of bikes with too much e-junk are a severe safety hazard. It's the kind of hazard that is almost impossible to measure, and the problem of 'unmeasurable hazard' is a larger issue that's pervasive throughout many commercial endeavors.

But dear God, I'd never ban him-- love his ride reports, complete with photos of desserts, and he does get technical stuff right that I couldn't even begin to figure out on my own. Hope we get to have a beer someday if I every make it over there, or vice versa! A lot of my friends annoy the hell out of me in similar ways. I'm also from a Czech family, so of course I am predisposed favorably to our ancestral neighbors! And FWIW, I edit my posts constantly, more because I'm verbose or have issues uploading photos than because I worry about offending people, though I have gone back and toned down a few posts occasionally. Not sure a high edit rate indicates much.

Let's hope Rome was not in an injury, accident, or had some other kind of trouble. I think he mentioned having a DUI at one point-- and there but for the grace of you-know-who I would go, etc. Been there, almost did that. When sh*t gets real, we should be one for all and all for one.

And of course that would be a non-alcoholic beer for yours truly. (I'm adding this so I don't have to go back and edit my post!) It might be coffee... and could include dessert!

Its quite a complicated scenario, are homemade bikes more dangerous?

Very often this is true, dodgy wiring, mis matched, untested parts, overstressed frames, inadequate brakes, modifications damaging critical control mechanicals over time.
But overall builders of such bikes are constantly aware of these dangers and are more aware of failure consequence.

I jumped off my ludicrous ebmx onto my friends specialized emtb and nearly crashed as it was in turbo and I mounted it by standing on the pedal at top centre to swing my leg over and it took off, leaving me completely unbalanced for a set of bumps.

Its the rider 99%.

The golden rule is: 'Keep the brake lever depressed until you are ready to start riding' :)

You'd laugh but that's in the Specialized Turbo User Manual :)
