Ride One Control works with disconnected iPhone 😁🚴‍♀️

Disappointed that my new Liv Intrigue did not come with a display ( especially as I was hitting it probably too fast downhill) my mind wandered.... I wonder if Ride Control One would link with an old SE iPhone? Bottom line.... sure thing!!! 🤸‍♀️I turned on bluetooth and connected it using WiFi to set up with the bike. Once firmware was updated I took it for a spin. GPS, cadence, speed, mileage all there! 😁. No money out for a display and repurposing an old disconnected phone. No worrying about having to use my expensive phone. 🚴‍♀️

Hi Anna !
I tried doing this last year, but no luck......:(
I assumed the phone must have Phone (cell) Service to work,,,,
Is your phone completely disconnected from Cell Phone Service ?

I use my Old cell phone as a camera, calculate, memo pad, etc., all the things it can do without Cell Service.
It would be great if it worked with Ride Control One.

Please let me know,
Craig

You just won't be able to save any data entered, personal stats, ride maps, etc. And no updates. If it's working count yourself as lucky. 👍

The phone has no service just WiFi. Perhaps it connected to public WiFi on my ride. I will ride with it in the boonies and see what happens.... stay tuned. At home connected to WiFi it downloaded the Giant App and I was able to update the bike’s firmware. 🚴‍♀️

Ok... it works! No active cellphone. (Browneye, to your comment, I do have to press the SAVE RIDE button to save the map and other data after the ride before turning the bike off.) This should work on Ride One Control bikes 2019-2020. To set up, I turned the bike off, downloaded the Giant Ride Control APP and updated it before turning on bike... then I synced the bike with the App. (The old phone I am using still connects to the home WiFi for set up.) Hope this helps. 🚴‍♀️. Screen shot:
