Removing front shifter

Has anyone here removed their front derailleur and shifter from a Stromer?

I'm thinking about it because in almost 300 miles I have never used the small sprocket in the front, just no need for it. I'm also planning on a tighter cassette in the back. Note that where I live (MPLS) is almost totally flat.

I never use mine either. The only reason I leave it on is if my battery ever fails I will need it to pedal the bike home.
