Remaining charge indication on original Kiox display?

Hi,

I am using an original Kiox display on my 2020 Moustache Friday FS27 '45' Speed-pedelec. [28mph]
My problem is I need reading glasses to see the tiny % digits in the top right hand corner.
But I don't want to wear glasses on my e-bike. My distance vision is perfect.
I'd need reading prescription lenses in my various pairs of sunglasses too.

Before I rush out and buy an expensive Nyon upgrade kit: For the larger screen size..
Can the tiny Remaining Charge digits on the Kiox be enlarged somehow?
Or shown more clearly on another of the optional screens?
I have ringed the tiny, Remaining Charge indicator digits in the attached image.

Thanks for any advice
Chris

Many thanks for the great suggestion. 👍
I had no idea this was possible.
Where did I put the manual?

BTW: Was the 99.9km/h a GPS reading in "free fall?" ;)

Success! Many thanks to those who responded to my request for help .
A great improvement! Which will save me searching across multiple screens.
Not always easy while wearing thick, winter gloves.
Now all I need is available at a glance in large, clear digits. 👍

Thanks again.
Chris

No, just wanted to know if the motor or Kiox rolls over at 10 Gigameters. But it just stops counting at 4 Gm which equals 4,000,000 km

An update: I changed to a NYON from the tiny KIOX screen.
Much better visibility without needing my reading glasses.
The NYON screens are also user adjustable as to the content being displayed.
The mapping and route following colour screen of the NYON is also great.

I like the automatic locking feature when I remove the Nyon at every stop.
Though I still use a top rated ABUS bike lock as well. To fix the bike to the scenery whenever possible.

I would VERY STRONGLY recommend you use an authorized Bosch dealer to make the display change.
There are new cables to be run through the frame and battery compartment to the motor housing.
Some KIOX cables have to to removed when swapping displays and mounts.

Moustache frame design leaves ABSOLUTELY no room AT ALL for added cables.
Even KIOX cable removal proved to be impossible due to to the lack of clearance.
The motor has to be lowered and properly supported by a skillful, experienced bike mechanic.
I was lucky and found a highly skilled local bike dealer with years of wiring and bike repair to call on.
He also had the Bosch software to update the system after the change.

That's interesting. When I upgraded from Kiox to Nyon on my 2020 R&M the only thing that needed changing was the template on the handlebar mount.

Glad the switch worked out for you. Yes, the Nyon is a very good and versatile display/controller.

Hi Peter,

I am glad it went so well for you. 👍

The Kiox display mount had its own long, main cable. As did the much larger Nyon bracket.
There were more gold contacts on the Nyon than the Kiox. So the cables could not be simply swapped over.

The individual keypads also had their own cables. The Nyon upgrade brings a new keypad.
You would not want to duplicate the wiring on the handlebars or it would be messy.
This was a genuine boxed upgrade kit from Bosch.

The Nyon main cable had to be fed through the rubber grommets in the head of the upper frame.
There no clearance room for additional wiring. So the Kiox cable had to be completely removed first.

Then the new, Nyon cable clipped into the PowerTube battery compartment.
There is no room nor clips provided for additional cables. Or the battery will not seat properly.
Then finally the new cables are run down through the bottom bracket area to the socket on the motor.
A fairly simple task in the Moustache factory. Where there are no other cables in the way.
Once assembled there is no room to remove existing cables. Let alone add more!

I have been building and maintaining my own bikes and trikes since the 1960s. Owned motor bikes.
I have built sports cars and kit cars. Modded, tuned, wired and rewired them from scratch.
Built Hifi systems, subs and speakers for over half a century too.

The Bosch Nyon upgrade was the first time I ever needed a bike shop's expert help.
For which I was extremely grateful and cheerfully paid the two hour labour charge.
So judge the difficulty of this mod for yourself. ;)

Regards
Chris

maybe because the bike came with the Kiox? I had to pay for going from purion to kiox but I could do the change from kiox to nyon. I was also able to do the intucial to old nyon but then from old nyon to new I had to pay for that.

IIRC the motor to display cable has 4 contacts and the remote to display cable is 3 contacts for SPH, Kiox, and Nyon.

Bosch claims the Nyon remote is different from the smartphone hub/kiox remote, but my Nyon remote never left the box. I just plugged in the smartphone hub remote in and it works fine.

Pulling wires was definitely a pain when I went from Intuvia to smartphone hub. Would be harder on a bike setup for dual batteries for sure.

Glad you are happy with the Nyon Chris, it's a good display.

The same experience. The Kiox and the Nyon remotes are identical and the one that came with the Nyon is kept as a spare.
