Hi everyone,

I am looking for recommendations for budget-friendly mid-drive and belt commuter bikes to go from home to work (around 10 miles one way). I looked into Evelo Atlas (https://evelo.com/products/atlas), Zen Photon Pro (https://zenebikes.com/products/photon-electric-bike), and Ride1 Up Prodigy V2 (https://ride1up.com/product/prodigy-v2/). I was hoping and would greatly appreciate it if you could provide your insights and recommendations as I am new to the E-bike world. Please recommend if there is any other bike that would match this criteria as well.

Thanks very much,
Amit

The Atlas has been unavailable, the Photon has a throttle the Prodigy does not, the Prodigy has a Brose motor that Specialized uses, the Photon has good reviews, higher capacity battery, good components and is the heavier of the three… boils down to personal choice

I like the Brose motor on that Ride1Up model. Very powerful and very quiet. That it runs a 2.25" wide tire is another nice benefit for comfort. Not sure how reliability or service is with those bikes. Design looks really nice too.

The Zen founder is active on these forums and seems to stand behind his products. On paper that Zen motor looks to be extremely powerful. If you want a moped bike that you can throttle up hills, that would likely be better. I would rather have a bike that rides really well since it's just a lot more fun to pedal, imo. Step through designs are inherently less stable. That may not be apparent until the bikes is loaded up with cargo at which point there could be a wobble feeling. That is a general comment that may or may not apply to that particular bike.

Consider Priority Current as well, especially if you can find it locally in your Costco - great ebike for reasonable price.
yea I was looking into the current bike as well, great idea to look from Costco

Evelo mentioned that Atlas will be coming back in October. Thanks for your input
