Recentish Vado 5.0 2021 purchaser with some questions.

Hello all, I’ve recently picked up a second hand 2021 Vado 5.0, it was setup a bit weird in ways such as having no headlight a different 48t chain ring a set of mechanical brakes and a 10 speed cassette.
I’ve been trying to find out which headlight came from factory as well as pickup a pair of Deore or Deore xt brakes somewhere.
I do apologize if there’s already a thread somewhere for stuff like this.
thanks in advance for you help!
Any suggestions for a larger front fork with 70-100mm travel too?

A couple of places to look:

Or the bike archive page:

Note: The light may be an OEM version of the model listed in the spec page (example mounts upside down where the standard version is upright). If so it's usually easier to order from a Specialized dealer. Hopefully they didn't just cut the wiring harness when they removed the light. Didn't the owner keep the light when they took it off?

Thanks for that link, the bike has a different headset and handlebars on it too, he had just moved when I bought it and lost the original one in the move. He didn’t cut the wire, I’d assume he took it off when the bike was apart for the brakes. He was making it an ultra lightweight bike with carbon wheels and no front shock etc.

Heres a few photos of it, ignore the flat…

I prefer wired lights connect to the main battery and always ride with lights on, it might be a lot easier just to go with rechargeable lights. It's a common misconception you only need bicycle lights at night but I've had so many instances of drivers taking a second look because of the headlight especially on an e-bike where you may be faster in traffic than they assume.

Yeah, if possible my plan is to get another factory light but I’ll see because 3d printing a mount for a pair of dual flashlights might work good too.

Your local Specialized dealer can look it up and order it for you. I use this web page for research and I've ordered a couple of parts but it's been slightly cheaper to go to one of my local dealers.

I also use this site for research only since they are EU but they have a lot of spare parts and they list the applicable models. It's about the best you can do without the dealer access to the Specialize parts catalog.

Do you know of a good front fork? Something in the 80-100mm travel range or so

Don't replace. Swapping a suspension fork for a one with longer travel will totally change the geometry of your Vado, which could lead to serious consequences. If you must replace the fork, search for an air fork of similar travel (and it must support the diameter and length of your existing front axle). I cannot give you any advice for an appropriate fork though.

If you are seeking comfort, I can only recommend Redshift ShockStop Stem instead of replacing the fork.

Ditto what Stefan said.
Although I don’t have a ShockStop Stem, it seems like a much simpler modification than a entire new front fork.
And another thought, have you considered a suspension seatpost? Huge difference in ride comfort. Cirrus Kinect is my favorite.

Cirrus Kinect is my favorite.
It's "Kinekt 2.1" Marci Jo :) Oh yes, it is very good, and what's important, it comes in a variety of seat-post diameters. For this reason, I only mentioned RedShift ShockStop stem but couldn't recommend their seat-post (only 27.2 mm).

I need to mention the Redshift ShockStop stem is very effective, and it actually works even better if the suspension fork is locked!

Do you know if the pro version is worth the extra 80?

I’m embarrassed Stefan. My grade school English teacher would be disappointed with my spelling. ☹️😩…..lol
