Raleigh lore ie tire removal?

Don't mean to toss out a noob question but am I missing something?

I'm trying to remove the Schwalbe Super Moto-X tires from the rims and they are not coming off!

Just making sure there's no beadlock or these are tubeless tires or something.

Any advice or experience is welcome. 😁

Yes, the problem is with the rim choice.
ALEX MD40 are good rims but the tires get stuck. It was previously used by Raleigh and R&M on some of their models and then they switched to 35mm rims.

You may need strong motorcycle tire pliers or two strong men to get the tire unseated. Takes a bit of work but doable. Take the bike to a shop and they will help you out.

I had the same issue until a local bike mechanic shared his secret with me... the best tire and rim tool available! ;)

I was finally able to get tires off! The best advice I can give... is to put a few wood boards under the rim to protect it and the hub and step on the tire bead to break it. Then work your way around the tire... pushing it to the middle of the rim (lowest spot) and the tire "comes right off". It doesn't actually come right off... but it's no worse than a gator. I put some wax paste on the rim b4 reinstalling and all went well w/ some standard Park tire wrenches.

Thanks again all for the help!

Glad to hear you found a solution... just be careful about working on the horizontal rim as it is very easy to damage. Try the rim tool next time... ;)

Thanks for this suggestion - but I bought this item and found out that the Moto X tires are too big. The jaws didn’t fit around the sidewalls to reach the bead. I returned it and am still looking for one that might fit the 2.8” tire size.

This tool will work on wide tires... no problems with my 2.8" Nobby Nics. :)
