Programming the controller of a recent rad bike

Hi Guys,
I was wondering if someone has attempted to program the original controller of a recent rad bike model. I have found out that on my 2020 Rad bike the controller is made bij Lishui, more information can be found on their website https://www.lsdzs.com/
They do seem to offer free software to adjust the parameters of the controller https://www.lsdzs.com/ls_download/

However in order to adjust the controller you need several specific cables such according to this LSH Programmer manual I found online (no author is mentioned) (see attachment). Also you need something called a USB stick FPS2, which seems to be a hardware tool USB by Lishui required to program the controller. However I cannot find these for sale online anywhere.

Question is, should it be worth to try and pursue this route or would it be easier to order an upgrade kit offered by sites like Bolton bikes ande Electro bike world? As is also discussed in this thread https://electricbikereview.com/forums/threads/radrover-controller-display-upgrade-kit.27089/

I'm not aware of anyone that's changed anything but the basics (like top speed and wheel diameter) on a Rad bike controller. My concern would be that after purchasing the required hardware and software that would enable you to do that, the first thing required would be a password nobody has access to. :mad:

If you did run into a password situation, an option there might be to find an identical replacement controller and display on the aftermarket - that would NOT be locked down by the bike's OEM.

Very familiar with the KT equipment sold by Bolton and Electro. I went this route prior to Boltons kit availability because the stock firmware made me crazy. I didn't pay near what Bolton charges for his, but the downside was I had to match up all of the wiring (PAS controller, brake switches, etc.). I think most would prefer to pay a little more to get the plug and play he offers....

After a lot of messing around figuring out and customizing the available set up parameters, I am VERY happy with the KT base equipment. Have been running it for a few years now.
 
You may want to try playing with this: https://www.waveshare.com/st-link-v2-stm8.htm , I'm planning to do the same to read the firmware of my controller. I still haven't tried it, but by checking the MCU STM version you'll probably find the driver, then it's just finding the right cables and pinouts, some soldering, multi-tester and lots of patience and free time :)
There's also a USB version https://www.waveshare.com/st-link-v2-mini-stm32.htm or if you google st-link/v2 usb. Check first if your microcontroller is STM8 or STM32 to make sure it's for you

Have any of you had success reprogramming the Rad controller? I'm looking into this as well, but I'd like to find some evidence that it can be done, before trying anything.
