Praxis "Wave" Chainring question

After removing the chain on the 2022 Vado and Como yesterday to clean in the ultrasonic cleaner and then soak in the hot Speedwax crock pot, upon reinstalling the chain my research showed that the KMC chain, unlike the Shimano chain on the previous 2021 (and prior?) Vado does not have a "direction" for installation preference.
Other than matching up as per this video, can anyone indicate the reasoning for the Shimano chain being directional?

As a side note, the SRAM Rear Derailleur (SRAM GX, long cage, 11-speed) cage lock is the best thing ever!

The Shimano directional chain is believed to shift smoother, As I use either KMC or Decathlon chain (made by KMC) on my Vado SL, I could notice more uneven shifts than I'm getting from the Shimano chain on my Vado 5.0.
