Pics of places you ride your Hydra

I think there are other people riding. There is a lot of loose stuff making traction a real challeng.
I saw that pic a while ago of that monster switchback. As you well know, and found out recently, ... A man has got to know his limitations. Don't get out there and hurt yourself. ;)

My first posted picture of where I ride my Hydra. My wife is holding the Hydra on the left, her Orbea Rise on the right.

This is one of our favorite places to ride. About 5 miles square of state park land. The ocean about 10 miles in the background.

Hey, do any of you Wattwagoner's front brake make a little 'ticking' sound? It's rather slight but slightly annoying as well. It sounds out when I apply the brake ( just one little tick or click ) and sometimes just hitting a bump. Probably has something to do with the pads but IDK ... yet.
Late response as I’m just scrolling through old posts and like pics, but I’m assuming you’ve resolved this?
If not, first step is loosen the caliper mounting bolts, move the wheel slowly and depress the brake lever to ‘center’ the caliper around the rotor. Tighten back up.
Then spin the wheel slowly and see if it makes any noises to localize where it may still have some rub. If it’s still making noise, could be a slightly bent rotor, a wheel slightly out of true, …
If floating disc rotors, it’s also possible a combination of the above as well as the floating rotor ‘rivets’ holding the inner/outer disc together may be hitting as they sit slightly proud of the rest - I had to file down my front caliper mounting point slightly when I swapped to floating rotors (non WW but similar enough issue…).

We ride in the woods a lot. Usually there are one or several new downed trees each week in the winter. I carry a hand saw to make most trees safely passable. This one needed my battery operated Husky.

Of course you have the 540i XP @Merle Nelson and one would still consider that to be a hand saw  At least compared to those other ones you have in the shed which are two hand saws :)

Had my first taste of real downhill single-track on the Hydra today, probably some of the most fun I've ever had when I'm not mounted to a snowboard! Can't wait to explore more of the parks around here with spring coming on. Time to get some padded underwear lol.

My derailleur decided to come out of alignment on my ride, first time I ever have had to work on my bike on the trail. Need to put some Loctite on the adjustment screws to prevent that from happening again. Thankfully I had a multitool, and someone riding by offered to help shift through the gears as I was adjusting.

I'm going to order some Tannus armor soon but want to figure out what my tire size choice will be. I like the 3 inch Nobby Nics but it's really hard to find tires and innertubes for that size!

Remember that when using Tanus armor, you should take a tube that is a few sizes under the tire

Visiting a friend outside of Carmel towards Big Sur. Absolute paradise. there’s nothing like riding through the redwoods

Yeah they actually come with tubes! It has a recommended size on their page for each Tannus armor size.

I'm really struggling to find 27.5x3.0 tire options, the most common 27.5" wider tire seems to be 2.6" width. 2.8 is even hard to find. I don't want to commit to Tannus without any good tire options so I might just buy a spare tube for now.

Edit: just kidding, the Tannus Armor for 27.5 inch wide tires has a range from 27.5x2.6 to 27.5x3.0. Makes that decision easy!

I have Tannus in some 29x3.0 Vittoria Cannolis - you trim the edges to fit (3.0 did not require any trimming) and I'm using I believe 2.4" Revoloop ultralight tubes. 41g per tube, and the material feels like a less-stretchy, unlubed latex-free condom - sensual! You can also get Tannus for tubeless setup but I think something like FTD II is a little more hardcore for tubeless.

Cool, thanks for the info. I don't really want to go tubeless because of the sealant nightmare plus it's been difficult to find removable core 3 inch tubes.
