Phantom

Have you ever heard of Phantom?
Looks like they have been completely under the radar of EBR.
I couldn't find an EBR review about it, nor could I find a brand specific forum.

They have gas powered version and it was covered by Jay Leno's Garage.
He says no license & insurance required as it is still a "bicycle"

A lot of those look miserable to pedal. Better to call them mopeds. Maybe that's why they aren't on this site?

yeah I know what you mean, but to each their own.
If practicality was important, we will all be riding ebikes from Japan. They have been building "practical ebikes" for decades...Americans do treat ebikes as a toy, hobby, recreation, etc (Who needs Haibike full suspension downhill ebike as a practical bike?)

I don't mean to totally knock on them. I really do like the styling. They are cool looking bikes, and if I had money to burn, I would probably buy one to cruise around on. But many who venture into the e-bike world do it for a practical reason; commuting, errand running, getting healthy exercise. These bikes don't seem to be made for those purposes..,pedaling them is an afterthought.

Timpo, you really don't think they use these bikes for serious touring or commuting do you? Most of the bikes you show have horrible seat to pedal spacing and proper leg extension is impossible. Nearly all of them have the seat below the handlebars, not the proper position for high speed or long distance pedaling.
