Pedego Tandem

Welcome to the forum! I'm glad to see you're enjoying your Pedego Tandem. Please post more on your experiences and maybe a few pics too!

As a past tandem owner I'll give you one very important piece of advice-don't try to make a really sharp turn, or worse yet a sharp U-turn. What can easily be done on a regular bike will cause the tandem to, for lack of a better descriptor, fall into itself. And when it does you're going down.
Ask me how I know.

yep I can do a fairly sharp left turn when going around a sharp bent but I cant do a sharp right one for some reason. tandems are a whole new learing curve. yo uneed good communication to work well the camtian needs to tell the stoker when turns are happening when stopping bumps and such.

I will be posting some pictures soon. I read a lot about tandems on here before we decided to go for it, including the bit about turning, so we took things easy at first.
I was confused about tandem cadence and why it was so hard to find a mid drive torque version as opposed to rear hub/throttle.
Let me just say that even though I prefer the mid-drive motor (and I have a separate single e-bike which has one) its very obvious to me now that rear hub /throttle is the way to go for tandem at least for recreational riders. To be able to throttle from a full stop makes trivial to get moving again... and adds a safety factor that non electric tandems don't have.
Furthermore we aren't using any throttle at all on most flat spots as our own dual power is more than enough and as a result we really aren't using much battery except when needed on hills or full stops.
We honestly haven't had any issues yet with turning, etc, though we've been riding cautiously... to me it doesn't really feel that much different than a regular bike. -- and I've actually ridden it myself twice on two 17 mile trips and it's a pleasure to ride.
