I found it strange that DAPU claims they're a Japanese company when their market share in Japan is virtually zero.

Not saying DAPU is a bad motor, but I don't know why they claim that.

Dapu is owned by a Japanese Group name Chubutsu who are in PCB production and have lot of copper wire plants in Japan. Dapu is one of their investment which started as controller production than evolve into motor production too. And you are right their market share in Japan is very small (not zero but they use different brands in Japan as they sell as OEM). They are a Japanese company but all products are produced in Shanghai - China (Recently they have a new factory in Vietnam but I don't know if it is fully functional factory or just assembly line).
