PAS went out on my bike.

My question to you all is this. Are all of the pas sensors that attach to the crank the same and also is there one general size for a crank puller and tools needed to replace that sensor. I have a chinese cyrusher and where the expensive components are decent the less expensive component are sub par for my liking. They want $40 for a sensor and it looks they are $10-$15 online. Can I just buy a sensor and crank puller set online and be good to go, or are there different sizes. Yep first ebike, and I bought it when I had brain surgery 2.5 years ago. I am doing much better and I am ready to jump in. So I could really use a little bit help as a newbie to ebiking. Its a big ol 1000w fatbike, I dont think the sensor probably cares much about any of that though huh? :)

The standard crank pullers are all the same thread. Some are made better than others. You also need the socket wrench if the crank uses a bolt, or an allen wrench if it uses allen heads.

As for PAS sensors, most are the same. The 3 pin connector may not be the same gender. and the three wires (power, ground, and signal) may not follow the same color standard and may be in some arbitrary order. If you're not up to some electrical detective work, it might be better to pay the $40 and save two hours out of your life.

If you have a voltmeter, it's not hard to figure out power, ground, and signal foming from the bike. You have to make some guesses on the sensor side. They rarely come with documentation. If they do. then you can save time and $20.

Thank you! That was extremely helpful to read that. I have a volt meter and I can change the pin ordernon the 3 or so wires. I am pretty technical. I just know absolutely nothing about ebikes, well, I guess I cant say that anymore, lol. Yeah its sounds really straight forward. I havent taken a crank apart in probably 35 years hahaha. I have the sensor and the puller ordered and I have the allen or hex to get that part of the job done. This is my learning ebike, I dont mind doing the research and work to fix up my bike. Truth is when I am on a trail I want to be familiar enough to trouhleshoot and fix issues I might have out there. Thank you very much. I have PAS troubleshooting down. Lol 😁

Good. The sensor inputs on ebike controllers use 5 volt power. Usually red/black.

PAS sensor output depends on position of sensor and orientation of the disk. The later can go either way, so if the bike only works when pedaling backwards, flip the disk around.

I thought there was a variety of numbers of magnets in PAS sensors. That doesn't make a difference?

It's the most complicated section in my KT display's LCD3 manual, and you would think it matters. Maybe on a more powerful ebike, but not on my 500W motor.
