PAS not working - This is not the common fault

Hi Harry , once again thanks for your input again.

Because I'd got a new ( my third) controller and none worked I didn't know if the pulses from the PAS were "the wrong type" as there was a swing in voltage so the PAS appeared to work so I ruled that out. The throttle worked so a lot of confusion. Thing is after reading your experience in your previous message with a sensor I reluctantly bought a PAS. I bought a cheap one, thinking it wouldn't help from Amazon . That arrived late last night. I couldn't help trying it so at 10:00pm I started to fit it with Blu-tack holding it place😮.

And you know what, it darn well worked!!!!!!

Three weeks on and off it's taken to get here, so many many thanks for your advice and every one else who kindly chipped in to help out it's appreciated.

Have to say, I'm 101% confused now WHY I was seeing the voltage change as the magnets passed the sensor but no response from the motor. Ah well , but it's happy days now and I can't wait to get it all back together and start using it.
One question I do have, why do you heed caution on having a one level PAS, isn't that what brakes are for, excuse my ignorance due to lack of experiance

It's not caution on the one PAS level. It's irritation. If I'm riding at any particular speed, I like a PAS level to maintain a comfortable cadence as well as effort. Yes, there is gears,
.
Back to PAS signals, those LED flashes on your first one, have a pattern, when you look at them as a waveform.
.
These are the options for KT controllers, but just look at the bottom waveforms. They are not symmetrical up and down square waves, I suspect that the more advanced PAS sensors, like the one with a nifty LED, probably put out something that older controllers can't recognize.

Hi Harry, right got you 100% on the PAS now I understand.
Its just good to know there is some explanation of the problem which you have described perfectly of what could be the issue.

So thanks very much for going out of your way to do that.

Thing is because I have an S866 display that came with this bike, which I am sure works, and I think it is capable of changing the power output, so I'd like to replace what controller I have a (24v 250w) with one that has power adjustment.
Hope you don't mind me asking, but I could put this on the forum, do you know where I can get just the controller that will work with my S866. I have been in contact with at least 6 eBay sellers and 4 will sell the display and controller but not just the controller. I can't believe nobody doesn't sell them albeit I've not found anyone yet.
But thanks for getting my wheels turning again👍

Hi Guys, just to wrap this up I have got it working👍. Have to say I'm chuffed so thanks for that.
If you have been following the thread, I couldn't find a controller that didn't come without a display so I had to buy one from Amazon, that was £38. Plus a new sensor even though it appeared to be working. That was £4. But with the advice you gave was so helpful as I'd have still been looking for a controller without a display. So just bought the lot and the bike with the PAS variable power is so much better than the throttle in my opinion. So the original fault was a faulty pas sensor and the controller but not the throttle part of the controller. Happy days. Thanks for your input. Next job , adding a rear brake light as the controller has the output to do so .👍
