Mickey-Very good points made here. How about Dapu motor comparisons to the hub version vs the mid-drive version. Would be interesting to see how they both are in terms of quietness and torquey response. I thought the Dapu mid-drives are a newer offering than the hub drives??

Yeah, I've been trying to sneak out of the shop to conclude more testing between the Dapu Hub-drive and the dapu mid-drive both equipped on otherwise identical Pedego bikes. So far, the mid-drive isn't faring well. It might be that the mid-drive was tuned (either by pedego or dapu) to replicate a hub-drive feeling, and that's causing conflict. The hub drive is so much more gutsy off the line, and feels nice at high speeds. Even the range of the hub drive seems to be even.

The new Brose S has some good torque specs to it, but I haven't been able to try one in a real-world test yet. I've seen concerns about the belt drive with efficiency and long-term viability, but I don't know much about motor materials but it's been fine for our local customers so far, but it's only been out for a bit over a year in the states.

Mickey-I am with you 100% regarding the Dapu hub driven motor. I have the 2015 and it really is zippy and torquey off the line with no modifications. I also just added the Easy Motion Center Display and I think it is a great upgrade.
One thing that has me a bit confused is: After installing the new display , my 'total miles' have reverted back to zero, even though the bike had well over 1000 miles on it. I have asked around and no on seems to know why this has happened. I was under the impression that the data was stored in either the controller or the motor electronics. Anyone know anything regarding this phenomenon??

If you were using the oval Easy Motion display, it keeps the mileage on that display. We've switched out quite a many with our local customers, and it's very normal. We haven't switched for the center PRO display on anything yet, but it wouldn't surprise me in the least.I know for certain the Bosch system has the mileage on the controller/motor unit itself. I've heard the Yamaha keeps it on the controller too, but I've never had to switch a display.

Thanks for your reply Mickey. Yes, I switched out from the oval side mount to the PRO display, which is a big improvement for this kind of upgrade. I was also looking for a video or explanation on the settings for P4 thru P8. Looks like they are measurements for battery state of health, torque sensor voltage etc. Just a bit curious what those all actually mean for the user. I checked the EM manual, however, it does not go into any fine detail. Court had mentioned at some point that he will try and upload something explaining the different PRO modes.

Yes, in the Midwest (Chicago). The manual I was sent via pdf from EM has just the basic descriptions of each mode, but nothing too in depth.

I'd like to see a Yamaha ebike Beach Cruiser. I test rode the core last week and was impressed. Also test road some ebikes from pedego, flix, raleigh, and Electra. We need a light beach cruiser ebike. Going back and test riding another ebike today, maybe the cross connect to feel the difference. I live in Denver and currently ride a motorscooter to work. The ebike will be my next commuting goal since many bicyclist have inspired me by commuting in subfreezing weather.

Most people don't know they built and sold racing sailboats either.
And their outboard motors are fantastic, as are their motorcycles. Their 'jetski' is no slouch either (wave runner).
I call them the "3M" of outdoor recreational products.
