Orbea Gain X35 Mahle range extender help

Hi all,

Firstly, thanks for reading.

Right, Ive recently bought an Orbea Gain for an absolute steal, which included a Range Extender.

Anyway, the bike is faultless and had it battery replaced recently (currently 41.9v fully charged).

But I have an issue with the range extender (RE).

The RE turns on, charged the battery for 30 seconds and then turns off again.

It doesn't even get detected by the app, oddly.

But checked the voltage on RE and got a reading of 41V, which is the same as the bikes internal battery.

So, long story short, ive taken the RE to a store who said the cells are dead - and wouldn't bother looking at it. They claim it says it is full.

Few things, though, how can cells be dead if it's charging and would charge the bike if I just keep turning it on again...

Anyone else had this issue, any way of fixing it or is it just an expensive paper weight?

Regards,

Jordan

Probably stupid question but can you go back to the bike shop you got it in? I mean it should be a straight swap under warranty if you got it new with the bike. Failing all that maybe take a look at this fella 'Yako Rides Again' Gain videos. In the one linked below he actually makes a home made extender because he says the Orbea one isn't very good- He also has some great entertaining videos of his rides in Catalonia on his Gain & other Orbea stuff & tests, worth taking a look.
