Oh oh....it begins

I've bought an NCM Moscow+ a month or so ago and love it. Now I've gone out and bought a 2nd ebike already! On Kijiji (Canada's buy/sell site) I spotted an Amego Elevate 27.5" for cheap that was advertised as running great and having a good battery. I went and checked it out and it had 4000km on it but battery was still charging to 53.7v and owner claimed 40km+ range. I gave it a test drive and the issues it has are minimal.

Little chain jump on the rear sprocket under load, I am hoping I can tune that out. It does have a brand new chain but NOT a new freewheel so we'll see.
Seal around the left side of the front fork is loose and rides free, unsure if that's repairable or not. Fork seems to work fine otherwise.

Bike is very nice with hydraulic disc brakes, 500w motor, 48v 13ah battery, very much the mirror of my Moscow+ just a bit older. My rational for a 2nd bike is that now my GF or son can come along on rides. My son comes along now on his 2-stroke motorized bike but now he can join me on an electric AND he can stop borrowing my ebike for runs to the store, lol. My GF enjoys an occasional ride but hasn't got the leg stamina for longer rides, with the 2nd ebike I can see her on PAS 4 or 5 and us going on a 30km ride now. My son is also going to love the bike because the L7 display is de-restricted, I was able to chug out 42km/hr on it and it was still giving me an assist! I am comfortable on PAS 3/4 in around 20-23km/hr but he'll love having higher speed choices. It's also fantastic the battery is compatible with the Moscow+.

I just hope it doesn't kick off a monster in me as I am already looking at a clapped out 24v ebike from 2012 with weird geometry but that would be a nice petite ebike for my GF to use getting around town. Motor and controller are good but battery is a sealed lead acid affair and no good. If i can grab it cheap I might drop a new controller and battery on it and she can get around town on it or we can go for occasional short 3 person family rides. I feel I'd probably keep the capacity low on her bike so she can carry it up stairs at her office. Maybe a 24v 16ah or if I over-volt to 48v with a new controller I could potentially rig it to use a one of the 48v dorado+ style batteries we already own.

HAHA... the reason I'm laughing is because a friend and I are going through the exact same thing. I build a bike for my GF over the winter. Now I went from looking for a new, larger, battery for the Moscow+ a few weeks ago to digging up bikes that use the same battery so I can swap them out and have a fat bike for winter. You have no idea how much time I've spent spec'ing things out on Alibaba. If you want to drive yourself nuts, look up fat bikes with the Bafang M620 motor on YouTube and Alibaba. You can find some ridiculous bikes for 1500-2000 plus about 500 shipping/customs fees, etc (all usd).

All I'll say is if my Moscow+ drives as well as the Elevate does after 4400km I'll be so impressed. (Both bikes are same components made by same mfr)

This bike (Amego Elevate) has 4400km on it and is 2-3 years old and my son can still get 50km+ from the 13ah battery, we haven't fully exhausted it's range but we calculated at 61km he should be around 43v which is near the end of useful range, and you can still limp another few light km out it after 43v in my opinion. His battery will still charge to 53.8/53.9 even after 4400km and the previous owner said he was more shorter rides at high PAS. Back brakes have a little pulse to them so he's ordering a new disc and he's replacing the seals on the forks so about $40 of repair costs and it should run every bit as well as my brand new Moscow+.

You know how NCM gives the addition -10% discount off 2 bikes? Make use of it so you get one for you and one for the gf. I did.

NCM bikes are already so cheap (especially the Prague), there is no way I would ever risk buying some used ebike unless I was getting it for CAD$100. I value my time to be used for enjoying the ride with the gf, instead of fixing a used ebike.

Another advantage of having two identical ebikes is having a 2nd battery.

To each his own, I can appreciate avoiding used bikes. For us having owned lots of bikes in the past, basic repairs and maintenance on a used bike weren't a concern for me or him. The only issue was making sure I got a e-bike with a battery that was good and a motor/controller that was decent. The Elevate was great because I trusted the NCM Moscow and they are the same bike underneath. Plus we saved over $1500cdn and honestly buying a $2400cdn (Moscow+ with tax) for my son as a present wasn't in the budget. Now we have 2 bikes that can share the 3 batteries we have and have similar capabilities (his used bike actually exceeds my new bike as it's derestricted).

It could be that disc may have a high spot on the edge, or needs a simple adjust. Than manual has
advice for adjusting. One of mine had a couple high spots which were gone after a few licks with a file.
If it is truly warped one may as well get another.
