I'm pretty sure these were originally sold through Costco and Best Buy... thats not cheap to ship these back, and the discounts off new are massive to re unload these. I guess if you are insisting on staying below $1000, this is probably a decent way to go. At least you will get a name brand battery....

Not endorsing nor critizing the approach. Just amazed by the rather huge list of them.

This is a substantial list. I sell a lot of items of ebay and I can tell you that the general attitude of buyers in the US is that if they decide they just don't like something for any reason they deserve a full refund including all shipping costs out and back. They don't care if the product is exactly as described and works perfectly. I've had new items returned that were clearly used and the buyer claimed it doesn't work just so ebay would automatically allow the return.

These buyers don't care that in my case I'm just a small seller trying to fix and resell items that in many cases would end up in the landfill. I occasionally get new items thru my channels but the attitude is that even if it works and is new they want a free return if they decide they don't want it.

I'm literally thinking of changing my selling policy that I will only sell to other people that sell on eBay because at least they typically have an understanding of how pathetic many buyers can be.

I'm sure there was nothing wrong with most of those ebikes returned to Genze but buyers don't care. I know some that purchased a paint sprayer and painted his entire house with it and then returned it and said it just didn't perform to his expectations ... that is how bad it has become. I told that friend that was no different than stealing which is totally denied was accurate.

Those things look worse than Stromers.

You're a mtn bike enthusiast it seems. Keep in mind that some ebikes are designed and purpose made for street riding and commuting. They sometimes look very similar to mtn bikes but most do not. I think the Stromer ebikes look pretty cool but tend to have a bit more aggressive riding position than I would prefer for urban riding where being able to sit upright a bit more helps a lot with visibility of the urban hazards and bad drivers in cars that can fail to see a bike rider.

I once saw a guy returning 100 folding chairs to Ikea in June, probably after using them for a outdoor reception. Man, too cheap to rent them. People bring dead plants back to Home Depot a year later.

Yes! I was In line for the service counter in a Sears store a few days after Xmas once and the person ahead of me returned a fake Xmas tree with tinsel still hanging if on it. When I got to the counter I said something about it to the clerk and she went on to tell me stories about women returning wedding dresses after the wedding that they had worn etc. It takes all kinds.

I recently changed my ebay selling policy, due to a recent lesson along these lines, learned the hard way. There is no chance in h##l I will ever list anything for sale on ebay again!

The only way they can sell a bike that crappy at that high of a price point is with the backing of one of the largest, most respected retailers in the world. But even Costco can't unload garbage like that. Costco customers did the right thing. They could very well be worth $600 though.

Mike, the bigger point regarding Rad's return policy is that they're willing to discuss it (even if it does cost you something), where many others are not.
