Nyon question

I have a question that I have been unable to find an answer to.
I purchased a Nyon and a Nyon controller. The Nyon has arrived but still waiting for the controller.
I tried to hook it up on my Haibike FullSeven rsx (with the Bosch Performance 28mph limit motor) but had an error stating it is incompatible with the bike and could go no further.
Do you think it is because it was connected to the Intuvia controller?
I probably should have waited for the Noon controller but was excited about the upgrade.

The two controllers are actually different: the Intuvia just has an up-down and a Home button whereas the Nyon controller also has a directional joystick-type element that you can use to navigate menus.

It turns out one needs to pair the Nyon with the Nyon controller, otherwise you'll get an error message and not be able to proceed with the hookup.
So still waiting for the Nyon controller.
