No More BBS01 & BBS02 from Bafang

I was browsing the Bafang website this morning (Link Removed - No Longer Exists) and I notice that the BBS01/02 was missing from their line up of motors. Is this an indication that they stop making this mid drive unit and will concentrate on the BBSHD. I see that The BBSHD comes in 1000W and 750W on the site. Does anybody have any info to share on this? Can the BBSHD be drop to 500W as well.

i would reckon they`re just renaming the BBS02 750 watt and concentrating on their MaxDrive units for lower wattage versions

I couldn't track anything down that indicated the BBS02 was being dropped, but it's not on the product page, as you indicated.

It is easy enough to set the BBSHS for lower power than the max amps, which I believe is 30 amps. This page shows the basic procedure. If you have a 48v battery, you reduce the max amps to around 10.

It does seem strange.

If I drop the amps on the BBSHD to 10 amp will that draw less power from the battery and will that increase my range and longevity of the battery and motor using a 48V battery?

The reason I ask is that here in Canada they have a set guidelines on e-bikes and no more then 500W motors are permitted. I like the look of the BBSHD with its new controller and reliability over the BBS02.

It's been suggested the HD is 10% more efficient than that 02. The HD sheds heat a lot better, which always helps. I thought they might drop the price of the 02 to something like $325 retail (US). Bafang owns the market. If there is no 02 the HD is pretty much 'it'.

Setting the motor to 500 watts will obviously limit the top speed, but anything over 20 mph kills the range. My motors are set for the Utah limit and I never miss the extra power.

I'm fine with the 20 mph. I just want to have fun and enjoy my rides and knowing that if I need the extra power for future upgrade that's it is available to me.
