No manufacturer’s bike in the garage at this time. A home made brew a friend built by a friend of mine. Trek frame, front end with the stock tire & brake. Three sprockets in front, six on the rear. Hydraulic disc brake with torque arm & brake caliper arm. 500w brushless motor-rear wheel. 36v 11.4AH LG genuine L-ion cells. Onboard battery charger. There are three driving modes, a indicator showing how much battery is left. A thumb throttle that I like. I haven’t ridden it much I do know that it will go 17mph in mode 1. I’ve got to ride it more, have to find the time. Between the heat, doctor stuff have been pretty busy. Don’t know a lot of about eBikes, trying to learn. I also ride a motorcycle, a Yamaha FZ 900 triple. Being 80 I may give up motorcycles and ride a eBike. Either have another one built or buy a factory built bike. So many choices. I hope to learn a lot more from this form. Thanks for listening. Dave

Welcome Dave, lots of info here, good people, friendly and helpful. Coming from motorcycle riding, I doubt you’d want anything less than a pedelec. Top speed, 28mph on pedal assist with up to 20mph on throttle. Get as much info as you can and test ride them if you can. Good luck

My home built will probably go 25mph, maybe 30. If the weather cooperated I’ll give it a shot. My friend that built mine, his will do 40 mph. I’d like 30mph with a 40 mile range. The only thing I’d do different would be fatter tires.

Sounds good Dave and you may be able to get away with the speed and may not, depending on where you ride. I’m sure you know each state has their own regulations; exclusions from public roads and bike paths, fines and or bike confiscations are things you to consider when exceeding their regulations. Fatter tires would make the bike more stable and comfortable. Good luck and please send some photos when you’re finished.
