New Bike Loud Noise

Hi! I own two EBC bikes a C model and a S model. Though I bought them both at the same time a year ago, do to multiple surgeries for my wife and I, they've been sitting unused in our garage until this week. Here's the problem. The S model has a normal electric bike whir. However, the C model is very loud when using the thumb throttle, and is getting louder with each ride. It's like a loud screeching sound. For example, today I was riding in our neighborhood and watched a lady working in her yard at least a hundred feet away from me jump, swing around, and shoot me a dirty look as I came around the corner and was pushing the thumb throttle. Any ideas or diy things I can check myself or should I call EBC for advice? Other than this issue which can surely be fixed I can't say enough good things about these bikes. The ride is phenomenal.

I think that it is always best to call the dealer as they should be the experts in the exact components which are on their bikes and hopefully can point you in the right direction if you want to DIY.

Also, if there have been similar issues in the past - they will know what is happening.

You will want to narrow down where the noise comes from before you call EBC. Is it from the tires rubbing the fender. Is it the disk brakes scraping. Or is it the motor? Does it stop when coasting?

You can lift the rear wheel off the ground and work throttle, while listening.

Thanks for all the replies and suggestions. Actually, the day after I posted this I called EBC and spoke to Blake. He had me shoot a video while riding the bike. After watching the video he said he'd cc'd Brooke and they'd have the engineers listen. Unfortunately, a light chain slap decided to start just as I was preparing to shoot the video. That I fixed afterwards with a socket and Allen to adjust the chain guard. The other noise awaits diagnosis. Thanks again and happy riding.

I have been debating how to write this without coming across like I'm bashing EBC, for that is not my intent. Like I said above my bike makes a loud screeching sound when I press the thumb throttle control.

I contacted EBC by phone and as instructed by Blake emailed him the video I made of the sound. I followed that up with another email verifying he received that video and could hear the issue. He assured me that yes he could hear the problem and that he and Brooke would consult with the engineers for a diagnosis. When more than a week went by with no further communication from EBC I called them again. Blake answered. He did not remember me. I gave him my email address and he found my communication in his emails. He tried to bring up my video and announced he was unable to bring up the video format. Mind you, this was after he'd said a week earlier that he'd received and watched the video.

He asked that I text him the video, which I did. Now, another week has come and gone with no communication from EBC.

This leaves me feeling let down. FWIW, I recall back when I was looking to buy an ebike emailing EBC twice for information with no reply.

I've decided to take my bike to a local bike shop for diagnosis, then call EBC when I have a firm diagnosis. Hopefully, if it's a part that needs repair or replacement they'll take care of it under warranty.
