New Bafang 36V 500W (BBS02B) Mid-Drive Conversion No Assistance from Motor

I have just installed a Bafang Mid Drive on Progrear Heist X5 Hybrid. (But my 3rd similar bike after 2 have been stolen)
However, although the controller powers on and there are no error messages, I’m not getting any assistance from the motor when peddling. It has been working during the build.
I presume power is going to the control unit but not being fed to the motor.
There’s no red light on the wheel rotation sensor.
I have tried disconnecting the shift sensor and also made sure the magnets are right next to the brake sensor with no result.

If the led on the sensor isn't lighting as the magnet passes it may well be a simple bad sensor. A good part to always have close at hand in your repair parts.

I don't know about the latest firmware but some versions will not allow the motor to run if the brake sensors are engaged or not connected. Test them with your multimeter.

What is the voltage from the battery?
