Need input on actual FEEL of Stromer ST1x vs ST3

I am considering my first ebike, and I'm having a look at Stromer.

The ride I will be doing is pure daily commute, about 20-23 km (15ish miles I guess) each way, on relatively straight asphalt, but occasionally I might take it along some walking paths to take the scenic route. Not hardcore trails, just walking paths through the woods.

Assuming that I don't care about price, please give input on how you think the below specs will affect actual riding experience:
  • Will I be able to actually feel any benefit from the additional 9 Nm torque?
  • How will the additional 10T on the crank affect performance?
  • Do I care about the different shifting systems?
  • Will the 1.5" rim difference make a riding difference?

Thank you for your consideration and assistance to a non-biker, hoping to become one soon :)

I think the 42 vs a 52 on the crank must make a good bit difference and the additional 9 Nm torque will definitely provide more power. I' driving an ST-2 which I dearly love, but also have a Specialized Vado 6 which rides on a 27.5 rim and has a 50Mm shock. The handling on both are similar but the larger hands seem a bit different and perhaps a little more carry from the larger tire. It as been pretty interesting to ride both and I always enjoy when I swap them back, so the 26" ride has a bit more mileage due to the difference in the battery load. I think you will be in a good spot for the ST-3.

ST3 will feel more stable at higher speeds due to revised geometry and wheel size.
Higher performance OMNI and slightly more powerful. SYNO drive has more oomph than CYRO drive.
Go with ST3.

I down own the Stromers but i can answer 2 of your q’s.

BUt before even reading this, if all that you’ll be doing is the flat 15mile commute You’ll be perfectly okay with the St1x. Just be careful where you park the big toy.

The St3 has extra power and with the bigger front ring , it accelerates faster, achieves the top end speed faster and you would be pedalling at a lower RPM overall.
So, even less sweat then regular minimum sweat and effort😉
The smaller wheel makes the St3 more agile and faster. Smaller wheel spins faster...
If you want really flawless shifting then go for it. I tested the St1x , no issues with shifting, but it wasn’t the ebike that i wanted .

Thank you for your input. I guess there is a point with the geometry. Since this will be a commuter bike, I will need to bring change of clothes and laptop, so at least one pannier is needed. So the increased geometry would be nicer with a little more room, even if it is only about 1.5cm.

Also, with regards to the commute, I've attached the height map of the planned route.

@Ravi, when you say "higher performance OMNI" exactly how is it performing higher?

I think the biggest difference in riding feel is actually from the wheels and tires, the ST3 ride is really smooth steering whereas the ST1X is more nimble and perhaps a little rougher ride. They are both fun rides.
