I bought this bike used for exercise, it came with a motor. I don't know what kind or wattage (no markings) 36 volt 3 12v lead acid in a series. I have not been on a bike for almost 8 years ( at the time when I bought it) I thought it would be a good idea to have a motor when I get tuckered out.

Any information would be appreciated or advice. I do know its a brushless motor.

Unless your batteries are on trickle/maintainer charge all that time they are probably dead and won't hold much of a charge. You could replace them with some newer smaller Lithium-Ion pack I'm sure. It must have a motor controller hiding somewhere between the motor and the battery, if you can't find it, it is likely inside the motor housing. You should be able to use any 36V battery of suitable capacity.

Looks like a standard hub motor so I think you are good, you can get this running again pretty easily. The new battery pack should be about 1/2 the weight.

Look at the motor and try to get a model number/brand off the motor itself.

There are no markings on the motor, I bought new batteries, and have kept them charged. It gets up to 12 mph. Yes, I am looking at better batteries.

Given it's age it could be a Euro spec kit, max 15.5 mph or a Japanese spec 13 mph. If your new batteries are delivering the correct amount of volts and amps, the kit just might not be a speedster.

I would suggest if you are considering a lithium-ion pack, get a full kit with new motor and controller. The battery will be the most expensive component. New motor <200 unless you go high tech. Good luck!
