My life was threatened....

Push and run, either downstairs or into something difficult to get out of like a spiky bush.
Just practice pushing people, Judo is good for that.

Anything with joint locks and neutralizing and or throwing is good, but it's better still to avoid any physical confrontation. Most first year akido, judo or jujitsu players will know how to do all sorts of painful things with your fingers and wrists. Judo guys going to throw you, jujitsu guys going to throw you, then lock you, taichi guys, you've got a baby cobra or an old man that can't lift a bowling ball, but can kill you with a touch. Question, do you want to risk getting whatever disease the perp has or bleading out? Is the perp on pcp and impervious to physical pain. Are they packing heat? Are you close enough to neutralize said packed heat. Everyone is a tough guy until they aren't. I have met men from different practices, all could kill the average man without trying, without fail, they all have said the same thing, do what ever you can to avoid a fight. Same advice I would give anyone else.

because you never know how it will turn out, your stance may encounter something slick, etc and the other thing is you may be charged with an inappropriate response, lawyers can get tricky and sly.
One of my old teachers, one of those guys who can kill, (luckily he is so high level, he'll just put the hurt on you) came into class with a massive bruise on his neck. Some students got disenchanted, because they figured, what's the point of having super powers if you don't use them. Our teacher had been mugged. Yeah, they didn't know Sifu put a bunch of racist aholes in the hospital when he first immigrated and did time for it. They also didn't know our trained killer of a teacher was held at gunpoint after being pistol whipped. He tried to get the mugger to come closer, but the mugger stayed far enough away, our teacher never had a chance to disarm him. Super powers or not, no one is dodging a bullet.

I've been in situations where I was going to have to make a choice about which young man I had to hurt and how badly to show the others just what a terrible situation they had gotten themselves into. I do not posses the skills of my masters; 6 on one with me, chances are, I'm ending at least one man's life, but there were no witnesses for me. I was really happy that a dead cell phone scared them away. The one kid who tried to drop kick me, I just rolled with it, it was like he touched me with a feather. Best possible outcome, foolish young kids lived (I was in my late 20's and the kids were all in their late teens or early 20's) and hopefully learned, I had no more issue than a scuff mark on my goodwill jacket. For a hot second I thought I was going to jail that night, possibly prison. Glad things played out the way they did.

This was the SW side of GR, a red light district in the early 2000's, when I lived there. A young couple was brutally physically and sexually assaulted a year after I moved. I know there were murders as well and the detective working for GRPD covering the area was notoriously dirty. He took money from everyone and was connected to whomever makes up Polish organized crime in GR.
