Mosfets

Sooo..stay with me here, total noon about all things ebike but on y mystery bike I wondered about mosfet count......I believe my controller has 12 mosfet but not quite sure.....there are 6 groups of 2 in a row down one side of controller....what does mosfet count have to due with controller operation?...more mosfet better?I ask because my existing controller of lost lineage is controlled by a display with a pin code to unlock and code is long lost.....simple would to get new controller and display but no set-up now same option as mine....left bar has cruise/economy/power buttons and right has light( head light and tail light)/ horn and power on buttons and display is more or less a dashboard with trip computer and mileage with battery diagnostics then a key pad to unlock motor functions...because it is laid out in such a fashion would like to keep stock but if you do the math for code operations(5×5×5×5)assuming repeats are allowed that's 625 possible combinations.........my dilemma at the end of saga is to get new controller or stab away at existing...bringing me back to mosfet count..........thanks in advance

5x5x5 is nothing. I once went thru a whole dorm phone book to get a girl's number only knowing her first name, but I was only 18 then. No, I never went out with her. I concentrated on my schoolwork and learned about mosfets.

Twelve mosfet's is high for a little motor. Must be that double secret run-underwater military stuff. For 250-500 watts, most designs use six.

If you buy a 20A controller, it should be fine. If you get it with all the accessories, display brakes, throttle, pedal sensor, you will have less connection headaches.

Ha...great story.....what we will do to chase a girl in our younger days!!!...
Because the bike does seem so well built is why i am attempting to resurrect it as is but also looking into just a new controller and accessories and call it done but that brings me down another road i have never traveled...what are companies that i can look to for complete controller set-ups from?? My super secret military bike should be terrorizing the enemy, not the cat hiding in my garage

Think of MOSFETS as tiny valves that allow currents to pass through in a very regulated way.
If throttle up the bike, you're demanding more electricity from the battery. How do you regulate this incoming electric flow?
MOSFETS do that job.

It is not just how many.... but also how good each one is, that matters. So, if you have 6 MOSFETS, they can allow certain amount of current but if you have 12 of the same quality, then you have lot more leverage.

Some people think more the better. Not necessarily. Some Android phones have 6-8 cores in their processor but iPhone may only have 4 but the way system utilizes those resources is much more efficient in Apple devices and hence 4 cores provide better performance compared to 6-8 cores. There is a point above which brute force takes over finesse.

ASI makes some of the best controllers.

In fact, the GRIN phase runner is just a copy of ASI controller.

How do I know ASI is good... well.. I dug this rabbit hole when researching Stromer bike and Stromer ST2 line uses a very sophisticated ASI controller.

You can get an ASI controller from Lunacycle and I suggest you get rid of your malfunctioning controller and get this one.

Good luck.
